Re: ripping us off

makes me want to stash my money at home

Re: ripping us off

^ R u serious?? That is so retarded. They charge u $2 for using ur debit card at another bank. they also charge you for not maintaining a minimum balance  So like the less money i have, htey’re going to charge me for it. But I opened up a student account, so I don’t have n e minmum balance.. don’t get me started on my cell phone service :naraz:

Re: ripping us off

There is no fee for using your debit card

if you use it as a credit card.

Re: ripping us off

nope...here its the debit card...which is so retarded!

Re: ripping us off

Canada has worst banking system for consumers. I was lucky I worked for banks ;)

Banking is now getting worst in UK too, they are charging upto 15 pounds per month having an accout fee. Tell me who is thief here ?

Banks are just robbing people to secure their money, while they are making billions of profit from other people's money.

Re: ripping us off

I have to say, Canadians get screwed over.

I have 2 bank accounts in England and they are free. I can take out money from ATMs at any bank in England and it's free. I can write as many cheques as I like and it's free. Make as many bank transactions as I like and they are free.

My bank here in Canada is also present in Britain. But it provides free banking in Britain, while making you pay to bank with them in Canada.

I guess being British brings some privileges that Canadians aren't entitled to :p

Re: ripping us off

Hmm ok so i wont be opening up an account in canada :shireen:

Re: ripping us off

Threads should be opened with an open discussion, wider audiance, I think..........

Re: ripping us off

Ok question abt banking in Canada...

at my bank, I don't haev a minimum balance policy, because I opened a student account. Is the same service available in Canada? What are some of the best banks there (for students)? Also, its mentinoed here that they charge u monthly for every service? is that for watever amount of money u hav in ur account or just if u dont maintan a min balance? One last thing... would it be difficult for me to open an acocunt there? Are there any banks there that are affiliated with banks in the US? Specifically Chase?

Re: ripping us off

1) Student accounts are free.

If you maintain,

2) Minimum balance of 1000 CAD (most banks) gives u ten per month transactions free.
3) Minimum balance of 5000 CAD (most banks) gives u unlimited transactions free.
4) Minimum balance of 5000 CAD (TD-Canada Trust) gives u a smallest size safe deposit box free too.

If your balance goes below minimum required you either switched to lower catagory (5000 to 1000) or if it goes below 1000 then account fee is charged depending upon bank Policy.

I still have an account with RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) that I openned in 1999 when there were no bank accout fee in Canada - that still exist with same policy (means its free) but I have to pay for each transation now. Cheque books are never free unless u do some sweet talking with the bank official & they can give u for free as courtesy. I have found CIBC a bank easiest to open the account (dont know their services), service wise I found TD-Canada Trust as best banks but these are my personal opinions. RBC used to be good but I have found that their services has declined much although its biggest bank in Canada.

Re: ripping us off

I work for a bank, so my account is free!

I can to internet banking, do as many transfers as I wish, take out money and other things! Even my visa card costs me nothing if I do some purchase with it in a year, if not its a minor fees of 20 Euros!
I get discounts on many things, life money converation to other currencies and insurances ect..

And I have a office mobile which I can use private. So I dont pay any montly fix bills, only if I use it for private matter then I get a bill, for calls for my work its all free.

I know its good to work for a bank!

They DO screw others!
