Means to tear something so why is it abbreviated for rest in peace?.I fail to understand why would anyone in their right minds want to rip someone who is no more with us,who has just passed away. This is not a nice/cool abbreviation to offer condolence so why do we use it? This is the most indecent abbreviation i have ever come accross and the person who invented it is heartless. Is it appropriate for people to say May his/her soul RIP?
My concern is the abbreviation not the phrase. If we write Rest in peace or R.I.P it's okay but if we say rip then that is another word.
