RIP

Means to tear something so why is it abbreviated for rest in peace?.I fail to understand why would anyone in their right minds want to rip someone who is no more with us,who has just passed away.This is not a nice/cool abbreviation to offer condolence so why do we use it? This is the most indecent abbreviation i have ever come accross and the person who invented it is heartless.Is it appropriate for people to say May his/her soul RIP?

Re: RIP

R.I.P = Rest In Peace

Rest in peace - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My concern is the abbreviation not the phrase.If we write Rest in peace or R.I.P it's okay but if we say rip then that is another word.

Re: RIP

Re: RIP

but why aitraaz on abbreviation, when original phrase convey good message?

It's much better than sleep heavenly in tranquility

Re: RIP

Is this translation of some Urdu phrase?

Aitraz is liye k agr lafz sahi tarah sy na likha jaye to meaning bhe to badal jata hy na.Theek tarah sy likha karen na k parhny waly ko smjh to aye.
