Ok my main question really is what is iddah and how would one go about observing that? In regards to abstaining from interaction with males… it basically means like no useless chitchat with na mehram and the like… right?

I hope inshaa’Allah you are doing well. I really think that you should go and talk to an imam for more information because this website really isn’t the best place to seek an Islamic answer. I did find an answer as to the iddat of a divorced woman with direct references from the Qur’an. I hope it does clear up things for you.
