timing matters less and less, especially for larger companies

at one time the recruiter would get all the emails forwarded, in which case there were diff rules of thumb i.e. apply before everyone else so you are among the first emails, another was apply wednesday because Thursday is considered a more relaxed day.

with systems in place which rank order applicants based on keywords etc, the timing is less important than tailoring your resume to the role and what they are asking for. recruiter will look at those who were indicated as top matches, and they may look for new ppl in that list for the purpose of shortlisting.

My advise would be that for large companies, tailor your resume and get it in as fast as you can. one key way of doing that is to make use of experience summary, and additional skills, where you can literally paste key words from the job posting. and then sprinkle them throughout your resume.

people hate these recruiting softwares, I think they can work in your favor, just think of resume optimization like search engine optimization...read up
