Right-click Button Gets Disabled Randomly

I have been experiencing this problem for the past few days.

The right-click button gets like disabled, and the syntax menu does not open up. Not only that, but clicking on links on iexplorer get disabled too (i.e. if i search for “movies” on google, the results will show, but when I click on the results, nothing happens). However, if I put the url of the link in my browser, it works. Also, if I click any folder on my desktop or anything in start menu, nothing happens. The only way to stop this that I know of is to restart the computer, but that is very time-consuming because my computer is very slow, and after a while, the problem reappears. Also, I cannot open iexplorer by clicking on it, rather I just keep 1 window open at all time and enter url directly to the websites I want to visit.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Re: Right-click Button Gets Disabled Randomly

Does this happens only in web browser or also during normal usage of windows?

If only browsers, then Reset the browser settings.. It MAY help!!

but before that Use “CCleaner”. after using ccleaner restart your pc and check if it helped if not then…

For IExplorer 8: (There are different methods to reset it)

1 Open Internet Explorer.
2 press ALT key once.
3 Menu bar will appear.
4 Go to Tools>Internet Options
5 Go to “Advanced” Tab
6 Press"Reset" button.
7 It will pop up another Alert window.
8 First try it without selecting the option “Delete personal settings”.
9 then it will perform its reset and then restart the pc.
10 try it if it is working fine.
11 if not the reset it again while selecting “delete personal settings”. (Although export the favorites, as it will reset it back to originals)
12 it will perform the clean up and reset it.
13 Restart the pc and check if it works.

If any of these work do let us know for future reference.

Re: Right-click Button Gets Disabled Randomly

mine did that.. and like americans developed pen and russians used pencil in space, i tried replacing the mouse (usb mice, hot-swap one to other) and new one worked in the same page, same place where old one wasnt working..

that mouse (possibly defective) works fine with other computers and RANDOMLY starts disabling right clicking..

so i went ahead and setup my computer for LEFT-HANDED usage.. (left key is right click context menu and right key is selection-click).

problem went away for a while, (I also got used to of left-hand usage), and then it started again.. (randomly). i switched to right hand operation, and also tested with different mice..

conclusion is: (if there is no software issue, like webpages/apps restricting context-click) windows xp's usb host, voltage, and mice brands (internal circuitry) does weird things that cant be explained in excel, or predicted.

a. i would recommend noting it down everytime it does that. . (what webpage, what application).

b. test it with a different mouse

Re: Right-click Button Gets Disabled Randomly

i would also recommend slowing down mouse speed from CONTROL PANEL > MOUSE screen, and slowing down double-click speed as well.
