i have been using zebra branded basmati rice for few years now,but lately i cant seem to find them at the usual desi/indian stores…

so it means i will have to switch to some other brand now…any suggestions…which ones are really really good…

thanks in advance…

Re: rice..??

i think mom brought zebra too but haven't seen it for ages. but she's using two kinds now, one that sucks so i didn't bother remembering it's name, the other is tilda. it is really nice chawal. cooks almost perfectly.

Re: rice..??

i was hoping for a few more replies....:p

Re: rice..??

thanks khumar....:)...
i might try tilda then...

the reason i liked zebra was that in my opinion they never got mushy...even if i kinda had more water added to them...or left them on 'dumm' for a bit longer....there were less chances of going wrong with zebra....sighs

Re: rice..??

Shan's is pretty good too.

Re: rice..??

i loveeeeeeeeeee rice, <3 ! , rice is sooo good, Asian pride.

Re: rice..??

chipsy u shd take a trip down to nyc, we could have a guppie meet at patel brothers and u can take home bags n bags of zebra :p

Re: rice..??

sounds like a plan...:D

Re: rice..??

For years I used either a Tilda brand or more recently "Habib" - I got used to the Habib and it was always on offer somewhere or another.

Recently, apparently the cost of rise has gone up (??) and Habib was selling at a lot more than usual and as Zebra were on offer I tried them - I agree, they don't go mushy, stay separate and even my MIL who is staying with us from India likes the way they cook!!!

My mum always gets Rozana and sometimes Akash or Surya
