I got one .. then returned it .. it was just too much hassle to clean etc ... might as well just do it in a pot and get the work done and over with. Plus it just took too much space for my liking ...
the only thing i liked was the rice cooked really well .. but then everytime i had a dawat to prepare for , rice cooker just wouldnt be enough for larger quantities ... I mostly ended up doing the dum in the oven ..
and after first few times of use , I just let go of it and returned it ..
but then again depends on your personal liking .. I think its ok for use for a smaller family .. you can boil rice in it .. pulao , you have to cook the chicken first in a separate pan and then add the chicken into the rice cooker and then the rice .. so in essence you have to wash two things : the pot and the cooker ! .. same goes with biryani ... you cant make zarda in a rice cooker ... so if you are more into just simple rice dishes like vegetable rice or plain rice ., this is a good option .. but for more complicated rice dishes , rice cooker is a no no
Thank you so much. The rice cooker I saw is pretty big and will be more then enough to cover parties. Its good if I can make pulao and baryani in it.
Its just that I work full time and anything that can save me time :)

How many cups that rice cooker is? I have 10 cups rice cooker, which i though will be really big but 10 cups is the measurement that the cup comes with cooker, which is like 7 cups of the usual measurement. I use usually to make simple rice but i used it for boiling rice for biryani too, vegetable rice can be made in it. Matar pulao, channa pulao etc. However I doubt if chicken or mutton pulao it can work well.

i used to work full time as well and was able to make rice withi 30 mins without rice cooker, i wonder how long does the rice cooker takes?
i dont use a rice cooker but i've heard its very useful.
Yes it is quite useful, specialy if you want to cook for party, 10 cups cook in 25 mins and then you can again cook more if you want. You can also boil rice for biryaani etc aik kaani ya do kaani. I made ruz bukhari at eid and I cooked almost 10 measuring cups but not fully cooked n then i dum it on stove for 10 mins they were awesome, no rice was broken at all
