Revolutionary poets

Do you guys know of urdu and english poets who wrote revolutinary ‘inkalabi’ poetry. At the moment, i can only think of Josh Malih Abadi and Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Or maybe I know only these two.
If you guys know about more poets who wrote on these lines, please share that information with us. Would Sahir Ludhayanvi be considered a revolutinary poet???Allama Iqbal is another one…kafi saray yaad agai

Ahmed faraz.......

Allama Iqbal all the way, I think his Shikwa and Jawab-e-Shikwa are one of the best ones. i haven't read different works so I don’t know much about other poets.

I wouldn't call Mirza Ghalib's work revolutionary, its very prominent and inspiring but i suppose most of it was published much later? I’m not sure though, does anyone know anything about this here?

Saqi, thaks a lot for posting Habib Jalibs poetry.

But I wonder whether we can refer Faraz as a revolutinary poet.
Allam Iqbal 's shari was more philosphical than revolutionary and thats just my view.

depends on which era you are looking at.

His philosophical poetry was actually very religious if you know what I mean.

then his revolutionary poetry was more philosophical like

Sonay waaloN ko jaga day sher kay Aejaz say
Khirman-e-baatil jala day shola-e-aawaz say

ya phir

uTho meri duniya kay ghareeboN ko jaga do!
kaakh-e-umara kay dar-o-deewaar hila do!

garmao ghulamoN ka lahu soz-e-yaqeeN say!
Kunjshuk-e-faromaya ko ShaheeN say laRa do!

Sultani-e-Jamhoor ka aata hai zamana!
Jo naqsh-e-koh'n tum ko nazar aye miTa do!

Jiss khet say dehQaaN ko mayassar naheeN rozi
Uss khet kay har khosha-e-gandum ko jala do!

KiouN khaliq-o-makhlooq maiN haail rahaiN parday
Peeraan-e-kaleesa ko kaleesa say uThaa do!

Huq raa basajooday, sanamaaN raabitawafay
Behtar hai charaagh-e-haram-o-de'r bujhaa do!

maiN na khush-O-bezaar hooN mar mar ki siloN say
Meray liye miTi ka haram aur bana do!

Tehzeeb-e-navi kar gahe sheesha giraaN hai!
Adaab-e-junooN shair-e-mashriq ko sikha do!

yesssss faraz ko hum inqalabee shair keh saktay hain........coz aagar woh inqlabee soch ka malik na hota toa 77 k marshal law main ussay exile kee life na guzarnee pertee
iss k ilawa hum akabar ko bhee inqalabee shair keh saktay hain/////

well yeh mera perseption hay......coz meri nazar main inqalabee shair woh nahee hota jis k shair banners kee zeenat buntay hon.......bulkay her woh shaks jo society per nukta cheenee kerta hay may uss ko inqallabee shaair kehta hon.......aur iss layhaaz say bahut saray log iss zumraye main aaa aatay hain...................aur han dont forget NOON MEEM RASHID

Bohot khoob :k:

Salaam aye GupShup ke basio

I agree with Show_Sha.... and adding to the list I think we shouldn't forget the works of Qateel Sheffai .... Qateel sahib ne tanz-o-mazah ke rang main tankeed aur inqlabi shairi likhi hai... iss ke sath sath kafi serious haad tak bhi likha hai..iss ke Ilawa meri nazar se Farhat Abbas Shah ke few items ghuzre hain which can be included, magar Farhat Abbas ko main kuch detail main nehin parha hai... Iss liye kuch zeydha nahin keh sakta.

newayzzz let's see how long the list grows...:D

Salaam Minerva jee!!!

Ilama Iqbal's Poetry was Philosphical but only in part... I say this because most of Ilama Iqbal's poetry Reliougs and Philosphical is filled with revolutinory messeges. I have seen a lot of people who claim to have read his woks but they seem to have missed the real meaning of what the poet has writen. Ilama Iqbal and his poetry played a very big part in bringing about the revolution which led to English Emipre's Exit from Indian sub continent. If Ilama Iqbal was not a revolutionary poet then I don't think we can add any one in this list.........( a little history lesson just incase you had forgoten or not read our history )
:)

haha Bajnjara jee, thanks for brushing up my history. I was in a deep slumber and you woke me up just like Allama Iqbal did with his revolutionary ideas and poetry when Mudlims were still under the British Empire. Waisay if you read my first post, I did mention Iqbals name among the people who fall under the categoryof revolutinary poets. ;)

I say that Iqbals work is class apart from others. His references, allusions to the past, the diction is something unmatched if you read the contemporary poets barring some of course. Khair, I wasn't focusing on him and hence missed him out. As for him being a revolutionary, you are absolutely on the mark. Thanks for pointing that out though and brining Iqbal in the discussion at hand. Now that you have mentioned him, please feel free to post his work related to this topic like Radio Pakistan did
Anyhow, Radio Pakistan I agree that his poetry has religious undertones and that some people have even gone to the extent of saying that its not philosophical at all. But thats just a side debate and not my forte.

Janab :salam:
I did read your first comment.. magar wo kya hai ke aap ke second coment se kuch aysa mehsoos howa ke shayed aap bhool rahi hain ya phir you got so much carried away by the reliougs and philosophical undertones ( as u mentioned it your self ) :rotato: and have over looked the revolutinary side.
And yes his poetry has more then one side to it… Thats where the minuplative beauty lies religous ho ya philosophical he blends that revolutinary messege in to it so smoothly that it never looks out of place.

wese bhi ye samajh samajh ki baat hai samajhne wale samajh jate hain:konfused:

Oh Dear… Main ne kahin pe parha tha shayed ke sootey howay logon ko jagana buri baat hai.
TO LATE DONE IT NOW :smack:

Jesa ke main kuch arsa pehle bhi yahaan pe likha tha…

Zulm-o-sitam ki tareekiyaan jab chatii hain..
Jahaan main roshni ke liye dewaane dil ko jalate hain

Dilbar ko Duaa dey esshas ki dholat dey geya
Aur’on ke ran’gh-o-gham ko mehsoos kar sake
Dil ko dard ka khizana atta kar geya

***Hammad ***jate jate wo kya kaam kar geya
Aulaad-e-Aadam ke liye jeenay ka sileqa sikha geya

So I try to be of help when ever and where ever I can!!!
