Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

Right so its come back full circle. I suppose the prices will come down and life will come back to normal. The shootings will continue until order is restored. Ben Ali's loyal is still in charge. Word to the previous posts.

A revolt that held promise but failed to capitalize.

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

I would hold off on declaring the revolt a failure, atleast until we know the results of the election. The ruling party is talking to the opposition for the first time, exiled politicians are being let back in to the country and political prisoners were just released from prison. All of that coupled with the fact that the military is firmly on the side of the people(they were fighting against Ben Ali’s loyalists yesterday) leads me to believe that the ruling party won’t be able to snatch power that easily anymore.

On a related note, three people, in Algeria, Egypt and Mauritania, have set themselves on fire in protest against the government.

Not sure if self immolation itself will get a revolution started in those countries, since I think that the case in Tunisia was unique, but I do hope that the people in those countries show the same courage the Tunisians showed and get out on the streets en masse.

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

Well it has failed to capitalize. Its not a failure completely. And you're right, we'll only find out once the elections and the new players come up on the stage. As far as I know heavy cards being played under the table. We're yet to see the true results. Although most of the big players are still Ben Ali associates. Lets see though!

Well Egyptians, Jordanians and even Syrians are planning protests and we're hearing a lot of chatter. This year will have developments be it in more free speech or more opposition.

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

America is trying its best to stop those people who talk about Islam from coming in goverment

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

Yeh again American conspiracy theories :smack:, by the way - French have more influence their.

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

I don’t carry a tinfoil hate mate but if you think there’s no such thing as America flexing its influence be it obvious or covert then you’re about as kooky as the conspiracy theorists who say America didn’t land on the moon. The US has always been a potent manipulator and there is plenty of evidence in that regards. ****loads of documentary evidence, insider accounts, anecdotes and what not of where and how the US has tried to exert its influence or directly applied it.

The US doesn’t want revolution where there isn’t any obvious interest. The Iraqi people were constantly pushed for a revolution because Saddam stopped whistling their note. The Iranians are being pushed because Ahmedinejad is loud-mouthed and brash, a bit off centre definitely. You never hear about the Algerians, Tunisians, Egyptians, Moroccans, Jordanians, etc. being told to think about their Freedom. Why? They go along with the plan. At least they did until now.

P.S. This isn’t even debatable mate. And if you meant something else, ignore my rant.

Good one, LMAO !

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

It might seem hilarious to you but with someone who's spent a fair bit of his life in 'The West' (How I hate using that phrase) and the Middle East combined you're going to have to try harder than that. Every respectable news press and news desk will second my view. Every person who's in the know will tell you the same. Without giving away any particulars I've been around Intelligence apparatus personally so I might know a thing or two about this.

Also note:
- I don't absolve Saddam or Ahmedinejad. Saddam was a cunt and the Iranian president needs to blaze one to chill out. Fair enough.
- I love America man, the Supercars, Cheeseburgers, Freedom fries, Scarlett Johansson, Miami, etc... So its not like I'm on an agenda here lol

Yesterday i was having loose motions, and guess what i rant about west for half n hour and "Voila" they are gone.

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

Gauging from your responses I'll say you haven't spent any real time in the region we're talking about. And I never did rant about the West. I spoke about facts. Denial gets you nowhere. I should have known better... Engaging in a debate over the internet, how ridiculous.

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

Alas another big chance has slipped from the peoples hands… this world rarely sees true Justice. :teary2:

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

Apparently the President's wife ran off with 1.5 tons of gold. How is that even possible? :S

Re: Revolution in Tunisia; President flees country

Exactly...Pakistan has the inverse problem. The people are the problem. Leadership is reflective of the people...
