I got this from a friend who allowed me to share with you all. I thank the brother for this information.
I’m not sure how many of us already have this implemented, but i think it’s necessary that we take these steps to insure an emergency contact number, just in case God forbid something happens and a situation arises.
The idea is that among the dozen if not hundreds of contact number we have stored in our cellular devices, it can be quite difficult for a third person to make that emergency call if something were to happen to you. Read below for more…
I paraphrase,
I hope you all will consider doing this, if we haven’t already.
This is definitely a good idea and people should implement this. I adopted this practice when I moved to University. I once lost my phone, and never ever in my dreams did I expect to get it back. To cut a long story short, someone had rang the emergency number to tell them to contact me and for me to go collect my phone :)
not everyone will know what ICE means tho even if it is catching on....I think putting "mom" "dad" , "hubby" should suffice and is understood to be emergency contacts.
Most people have 'mom' 'dad' 'brother' and so on names on the contacts already, but it can still be difficult because which one of those is the Emergency Contact person? What if you live alone, and parents live in another city/state/country.
ICE is mainly recognized by Para-Medic and other emergency services at this point, but hopefully overtime it will get enough exposure to the point that even ordinary citizens are aware of its meaning.
