Anyone have any reviews on this collection set? I’ve bought from Sephora before, but I’ve never bought anything of the actual Sephora brand. I’m looking for a full makeup set for myself for after marriage purposes. Sephora is selling this set for $50, even though the actual value is $440 – which I don’t get, is it because it’s a mini version of the full value set? :S It doesn’t say that it’s a mini or anything on the site!
Anyway, it would be great if someone could give their input, thanks
I don’t use a lot of makeup, besides foundation and eyeliner, so I don’t know much about makeup artistry and what brands and sets I should be using
Re: Reviews about the Sephora Collection Makeup Studio Blockbuster?
I personally don't like makeup sets. I think their quality is pretty bad and do you really need a gazillion eyeshadows that you will probably never use. Plus their lipsticks come in pan form and honestly who has time to put on lipstick using a brush?? I think it's best to invest your money in a couple of high quality makeup products that you regularly use. Also, it will be a pain to carry this makeup set everywhere whereas with individual products, you can easily pick and choose which ones you want to take when you're traveling.
Re: Reviews about the Sephora Collection Makeup Studio Blockbuster?
^I was just about to say. Makeup kits, esp. those by Sephora or similar brands/price range usually are factory made and renamed for various brands. They lack quality big time. You’ll notice they often tend to be chalky and poorly pigmented. You’re better off paying that price for a smaller but much better quality kit.
For $50, look at these sets which have great pigmentation and quality:
Don’t fall for Sephora’s “worth $500” gimmick, they lack quality big time. Esp. these big blockbuster sets because yes, you’re getting a lot of product but the product isn’t very good and you won’t use 70% of the colors anyway.

I was thinking that too. I can honestly say, I never use eyeshadow or mascara. However, I was hoping to dress up a little more after my wedding, that's why I was looking at these sets -- but 90 is a LOT of colors. I probably won't be using that many, and makeup tends to get bad after a while too.
Tarte looks good actually. Is that a good makeup company? Plus it doesn't have a lot of bad stuff in the makeup either, like synthetic dyes and what not..

The one by LORAC looks ah-maaaaazing! omg i wish we had sephora here :( makes me cry lol!
You have good taste b/c LORAC's palette up there has amazing pigmentation, even for a set.

Tarte is a relatively popular brand, their Amazonian Clay blushes are their bestsellers which are also in the set I liked above, you get 2 of the blushes! And Tarte is also known for making "natural" kind of makeup, free of parabens and stuff.

I just found out about the Coastal Scents 88 palette. Anyone tried it? I think I'm going to purchase the warm palette. Trying to decide between the Coastal Scents 88 and Lorac :S
Re: Reviews about the Sephora Collection Makeup Studio Blockbuster?
lol, LORAC wins hands down. The Coastal Scents 88 palettes are basically renamed eyeshadows. The same palette is available on eBay for half the price. Plus, the color pigmentation isn't great, most are chalky and dry.
