Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
No hope. I found her very pricey. I'm still looking for a decorator. I have 2 more to see before I make a decision!

Thanks Summerbr!
Yah I'm going to see her and 5 other people on Sunday. I will let you know what they quote me. I personally thinking $5K for a day is tooo much too!
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
Hope - Which vendors will you be seeing? And yes, do let me know how you like the vendors you see and what they quote you!
So far I have seen nisha chandra, sara baig designs, dream party decor, far east decor, karma, The perfect setting and wedding decor. I have to see the perfect setting again to get a quote and also see khazana creations. I liked the perfect setting so far out of the lot but she has bad reputation for not doing things on time, cancelling meeting, being hard to reach etc so I've been reluctant to book her as of yet. I loved dream party decor also but I found him to be too expensive - if you have the budget for him though he seemed great! He quoted me 3,500 for his regular stages and in the 5,000 or upwards range for complete wedding reception (one day). His fancier and larger stages are for 5,000 or 5,500. The stages for 3,500 are pretty decent also though and it looks like he does a really good job.
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
I have back to back appointments with the following: Nisha, Dream Party Decor, Laila Decor, Khazana Creations, Far East and Jashan Decor.
I'm also seeing Sara Baig next week. My friend had the perfect setting and she strictly told me not to get her. She couldn't finish her decor in time and the guests started arriving... so I might skip her.
I went to a wedding where the perfect setting had done the decor but I thought it was too over the top. I dont know how to post pictures.. otherwise I would put a picture up for the decor she had done.
It was a taj mahal theme...
I will definetly let you know what they tell me... let me know when you get quotes too!
Thanks :)
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
^ i had midhu verma for my mehendi decor. she was excellent- her number is 416 671 3492. she's based in richmond hill.
maybe you guys could go see her too? she did my mehendi stage for $500 and it was really pretty.
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
Thanks for letting me know hope. I had a friend who used The perfect setting also and she said that she had to call her up, harass her and shout at her to get stuff and there were issues on the day of the wedding also. I just found her work pretty good and I heard her prices are reasonable. Let me know what you think of khazana creations!
SCG - I had a really bad experience with Diya decor. They were a no show at my appointment with them, didn't even pick up my calls that day and then called me back days later asking to reschedule. I liked some thier stuff online but after that experience I wouldn't deal with them. Which sucks since I really liked one of their stages and was seriously considering them.
The stuff Far east decor showed me seemed too simple for my taste - their prices are reasonable though. The guy from karma seemed too full of himself and I didn't think he'd be the best person to deal with. I'm so stuck for a decorator! I guess I'm being too picky! :-( But I feel that as my venue is very simple, having the perfect decorator will make or break the event.
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
^ I’m sorry, Summer
That’s terrible of them. Nevermind terrible customer service! Have you looked into any of the gora decorators at all? Actually, I know who you should go see- her name is Sylvia, and she’s from Fa the Flower Shop. She’s a very, very lovely person and she was the one that myself, Sara, and I worked super closely with to get my brother’s valima done. She’s done desi weddings before. http://www.faflower.com/ Tell her I referred you- we’re friends on FB, right? So you know my name offline?
What about Sara Baig? Again, I can personally vouch for her work, if that helps at all. She’ll be doing my baby shower iA which I am very excited about ![]()
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
I have booked Nisha for my July 2011 wedding, and she was the most experiences and creative of the lot. I also liked the Perfect Setting, but their unprofessionalism and constant cancelling of our appointments did not impress me. Good thing too, because my wedding planner mentioned that she couldn't get a hold of her for another wedding until the day before!!!! I don't think that I want that stress.
I went to visit Nisha on the recommendation of a friend, but I thought that she would end up being too pricey. Her initial quote was definitely WAY out of my budget - but she worked with me and gave me proposals back and forth at least 4 times before we agreed on something. Her quality and workmanship is second to none, and I am so happy I booked her!
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
So I went to see 4 different decor this weekend. I told each one of them that I wanted something very elegant/classy for the shadi day and chic/modern looking for the valima day. I also asked them to quote me their best price based on 3 days of events (mehndi, shadi, valima).
Dream Party Decor - I like his stuff but majority of his items are over the top. Nonetheless, I went to see him.. i told him what I wanted and he pretty much told me that each day would cost me a minimum of $3K (because thats his starting point). The vibe I got from him was he likes to do elaborate stuff..
Jashan Decor - I thought these ppl were WAY TOO PRICEY for their work. I DID NOT like their work at all. I thought maybe they would quote a cheap price. But she quoted me $2k/day. She did say she would negotiate down but I didnt' like her work.
Laila Decor - She was OK. Her work wasn't too clean/crisp, hence, her price was cheaper. She said it would be around 900$ for the shadi day and $500 for mehndi day. And she quoted me $3500 for 3 days. I didn't like her work that much though. She again told me she will bring this price down.
Far East Decor - I thought she was giving me the best value in the 4 ppl I met. She said it would be $800/day for shadi/valima given 24 ft stage. And $900 for a 30 ft stage. Her work was pretty OK given her price.
Overall, I wasn't satisfied with the meetings.. i found Dream Party to be too expensive/OTT and I didn't liek the other girls work with the exception of far east (she's OK). But I've still got to see the following individuals: Naphisha from perfect setting, Sara Baig, Nisha Chandra, Wedding Decor and Khazana Creations. Will let you guys know how everything goes.
^^ Torontdesi - do you mind me asking how much is Nisha charging you?
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
^^ Torontdesi - do you mind me asking how much is Nisha charging you?
She's charging me about $4000 including stage, tables, and floral centerpieces. The thing that is the largest cost are flowers, so if you want a simple floral arrangement she would probably charge less. She is also decorating my mehndi in that price as well.
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
I'm actually seriously considering Sara Baig at this point. Just waiting to see if she can work with our budget. Torontodesibride - how many people are you having for your wedding and mehndi? Far East quoted me just under $ 2,500 for reception - how much was your total quote Hope, with stage, centre pieces etc.?
Any more updates Hope???
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
^^ I went and saw Sara Baig, Nisha Chandra and Wedding Decor on the weekend..
Sara Baig - She quoted me $4500 for 3 days (3 days stage decor, 2 podium set ups, 1 cake table set up and the receiving table set up). This price DOES NOT include centrepieces. I really like her work.. I told her my budget.. lets see if she brings it down a bit. I also need someone to help me out on the shadi day (day of cordination and sara said she does that - she quoted me $850 for this)
Wedding Decor - His quote was $5K for 3 days (include stage and centerpieces for 2 days (flowers/vases)) and cake table, receiving table, podium set up). On top of this he will charge me $200 for delivery/transportation fee.
Nisha - I'm still waiting on a detailed quote from her. She did say $5K for 3 days (this price includes 1 day centrepiece, 3 day stage set up, podium, cake table, receiving table etc).
I still have to see Naphisa @ perfect setting.
And Im really confused at this point!!!!!
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
^^ Far east quoted me $2700 for 3 days (this includes stage decor, no chairs though, podium, cake table and again no centrepieces)…
Summerbr - Who else did you speak with? I really like Sara too! I’m considering far east too… but i’m going to wait to see Naphisha and wait on Nisha’s detailed quote too. Will share this with everyone..
So I was googling for more decors in TO and found this: http://www.luxeventsco.com/
I spoke to her and she said she can do my day of wedding co-ordination for $400 (I think she might be starting off?) and she has to get back to me with decor quote. Shes is persian…
I think thats all for now
Will let you know of more updates
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
Hope - I asked Sara Baig if she can work with a budget of $ 3,500 for two days - wedding reception and mehndi. I've asked her for centrepieces for reception 130 guests, stage decor for two days, cushions and rug set up for mehndi, entrance decor, one podium, receiving and cake table, chair covers and risers. What do you think - is that budget too much, too little or right for what we're looking for?
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
^^ I did a breakdown of the costs she quoted me - this should help you decide:
Stage decor with chairs for reception - $1550**
Stage decor with chairs for Mehndi - $1150 (this SHOULD include cushions, furniture etc.)**
Podium - $25
Cake table - $50
Receiving tables $75
Chair covers & risers - ??
Centerpieces - approx 13 @ $25 (minimum) = $325 -- this can go up dependin on what you got?
**the stage price wouldn't be impacted by guests but rather by how wide your set up is.. ie 24ft to 30 ft)
TOTAL= $3175 (not sure what chair covers and risers go for?)
Hence, if you are asking her for $3500.. to me it seems reasonable. Try negotiating with her a bit more and see what she says.
Hope this helps.
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
Thanks so much for that info Hope - that really helps me out! I will be meeting Naphisha soon too - I hope, I just she doesn't reschedule. Let me know how ur experience is dealing with her. She should give me a proposal when I see her next and I'll let you know what she quotes me.
To be honest I like the kind of structures that Dream party decor is able to create. Sara Baig quoted me 3,850 without risers. But she said that she can't make stage with the kind of structures that Dream party uses. Wondering if I should see if we can bargain with her a bit on the price and go with a different stage than originally planned?
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
^^ No problem :) If you're looking for something like the dream party guy.. i dont think sara will be able to replicate it. She told me straight up that she canNOT do anything like the dream party guy when I was speaking with her. Can you post a pic of the type of stage setup you're looking for?
Yah I'll let you know how my meeting with Naphisha goes.
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
^ while i can't comment on your situations directly because obviously i'm not a part of the discussion between you and Sara and nor do i know what was said (or want to know! hehe), i can say that as a designer myself, copying someone else's designs is something you just don't do. you can absolutely take inspiration and work with your client's requirements and create something with maybe the same feeling (i.e. mughlai or moroccan etc.) but straight up replicating is just wrong. so yeah, if you're looking for a decorator to just copy another decorator's work, i think it'll be a little hard to find someone who'd be agreeable to that. :) and besides, isn't the whole point of meeting with these different designers so you can see their different styles and which style matches your wedding the best?
Re: Review on Nisha Chandra- Toronto/GTA decorator
I know what you mean SCG. I guess I've been seeing too many designer knock off bridal dresses on paklinks and was thinking you could do the same with decorating! :-)
