So I have been using this phone for the last 2 months now and here’s what I have to say. Meanwhile, moderators, if there’s been a thread on this earlier, please feel free to merge this.
Appearance:
The physical beauty of it is by far the best of the Galaxy S series so far. Metal meets glass. The curved edge display is simply gorgeous and have gotten so used to it’s functionality.
Display:Unbelievable. Pixels: 3.6M, Totally crisp and I feel like I’m inside the screen . Amazing sense of depth and photos pop up on the lovely screen.
Camera:
16 MP rear camera, holy goodness, is it awesome or what! Amazing features, slow & fast motion captures, panoramas and wide-angle selfies, all kinds of focus features such as object tracking auto focus, Pro mode for the geeks, and much more.
Charging:
Fast charging, you can get a full charge from a 0% to 100 in 3 hours. battery lasts from 7 am-4 pm if using for messaging, occasional Internet browsing, some steaming, GPS. Not bad I say.
What I don’t like:
The grip isn’t all that awesome. With the curved edges, I have to be very careful how I hold it, ultra sensitive. Feels very light but also delicate and while I don’t usually drop or break my phones, I am being extra careful with this baby. Not loving the photo browsing on apps such as Facebook. Noticeable Lag. I almost seem to reboot my phone once a day. Maybe I’m just too demanding.
I didn't see a $100-$150 value over S6. The curved glass, okay its fancy but does it has any real use to appeal me ? No, it doesn't. As usual, a marketing gimmick. I chose S6 over Edge because S6 felt better when i held in my hands. with edge, I had to be very careful because the curved edges made it feel so thin.
overall
I hate samsung phones :( - but i have to stick with S6 since all other flagships are using 810 processor. I hope Nexus comes with something good by the end of this year.
I dont think S6 or S6 edge has got anything appealing for me to upgrade from S5. If you had used S5, you would know how amazing the battery of this phone is (6 hours of on screen time, that's impressing) and how crisp and clear everything appears on Galaxy S5. I don't think there's anything I am missing out on by not upgrading it to S6 or S6 edge. I don't think it's worth adding a couple hundreds more to get the new phone. Infact, I'll be missing out on up-gradable sd card and the ability to swipe battery if need arise.
Can someone do a compare and contrast of the Samsung Galaxy 6 Edge and iPhone 6 (plus)? I need a new phone and I'm considering both of those at the moment.
So, do you go S6 or iPhone 6? This is the closest it has ever between the two flagship phones. Where Samsung has made striking changes with design, Apple has slightly underwhelmed with the transformation from iPhone 5S to iPhone 6. But that’s not to say that we haven’t grown to like it. That glass back on the S6 is an area of concern as well, so if you’re clumsy, it might be a reason to go iPhone. For screen quality, the S6 wins but 2K over a Retina display won’t matter to most. Both offer slick performances, significant software improvements and have two of the best smartphone cameras you can lay your hands on.
Price does becomes a factor here though. Go for the most expensive S6 SIM-free and you are paying more than you would for the most expensive iPhone 6. A look at contract deals suggest you’ll pay £4-5 a month extra for the S6 if you were choosing between the smallest storage options.
When you count up the little wins, the S6 comes out on top. It’s the most attractive Samsung flagship and has all of the cutting edge features to back up its metal look. If you want cutting-edge, then Samsung in our eyes, is the one to go for right now. The iPhone 6 is still fantastic phone in our book, and battery-life aside, makes the changes where they matter most.
