They are both fantastic. You more comfortable with Android or Apple? How much money you want to spend? You want a larger screen?
Google Nexus 7 Review by Niksik
Heeey Im back..
Niki bhabi now please guide me..
I dont want to regret buying a nexus instead of an ipad..so I want to be completely sure before I get one..
-what makes an ipad better than a nexus?
-what is that which nexus can do but ipad cant?
-does it really make a huge difference if one can do something which the other cant?
-which is better in terms of portability?
-which one has better apps?
-which one feels cooler to use:p?
Sorry for the dumb questions:sid:
Im afraid to switch from apple to android cause I duno what android actually is:smack:
One thing that hubz keep stressing on is that you can connect external flash drive to a nexus..does it really matter? Keeping in mind that I have an iphone and I rarely transfer stuff:/
re: REVIEW: Google Nexus 7 by Niksik
OK,
1. The iPad has a larger screen than the Nexus 7
2. The back of the Nexus 7 is kinda textured not shiny like the iPad so the grip is good
3. The N7 comes with the latest Android operating system called JellyBean. I've had the N7 just a week but I have to say I love it!
4. The resolution on the N7 is 1280 x 800 while the iPad 2 has a 1024 x 768 so it's very very easy and clear to read, and the graphics are amazing
5. I read that the Tegra on the N7 has more processing power than iPad's processor.
6. As far as the apps are concerned, I am happy with both my iPad and the N7.
7. If you've been an Apple user, it will take you some time to switch to the Android ways. I'm still learning but I'm loving it! There's this HUGE window of opportunity with Androids.
8. I feel cool using both
9. Don't worry about transferring stuff via flash drives. You've heard of DropBox? I transfer files from one iPad to the other to my Air to my S3 phone to my N7 all day long, via DropBox!
I think I may have confused you more.
They are both great devices. The N7 is actually for my 6 year old as a reward for doing really well in school last year (even though I'm playing with it wayyy more than her :D).

Which app do you guys use to launch the camera? It's highly annoying that Nexus doesn't come with one.
re: REVIEW: Google Nexus 7 by Niksik
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modaco.cameralauncher
This is what I’ve used. Good for video and camera.
re: REVIEW: Google Nexus 7 by Niksik
You guys must have received a $25 credit from Google Play. I bought a couple of apps for Sara (stories, etc.) and Instapaper for $2.99. Instapaper helps you store your reads offline as it's a wifi only device and you may need to read stuff later. I find it quite useful.
re: REVIEW: Google Nexus 7 by Niksik
Yea I saw that one but thought I’d ask the experts!
That sounds like a very useful app. Good to have for times when wifi isn’t available.
A few recommendations for you guys:
Currents
Google +
whatsapp
stumble upon
flipboard
500wallpapers (this automatically switches your wallpaper. OH and the gupshup app of course...

re: REVIEW: Google Nexus 7 by Niksik
Can I add some cons? (when you read these cons, keep in mind that its still a $200 dollar tablet. But then again toadys consumer expect quality, even when they are spending less money).
Volume - Pretty bad - speaker and headset both. The decision of having a low quality speaker, that also towards the back of the tablet is pretty odd.
On/Off - Volume Switch - its on the side and again that is an odd location, especially keeping in mind that when you are holding the tablet and some app is running, there is no direct way of knowing whether you are holding it upside down or not, as the front has no buttons or indicators. At that time if you want to increase the volume, or if you pick a turned off tablet and you need to turn it on, there is a50/50 chance that your fingers will go to the wrong side of the tablet for the desired operation.
GUI too busy - There is too much stuff on the screen. There is no way (at least no intuitive way) of telling which mode is what. You can find the same app in application mode and then somehow they are on home screen also. That makes the tablet more cumbersome than Ipad which is very simple and very intuitive, Every icon is exactly where you expect it to be.
Over all, its a good tablet, but my thing is that all above cons have nothing to do with the price. Its just odd design/layout, so for those features, we cannot throw the argument that hey, its only a $200 tablet, dont expect features of a $500 tablet from it.
