I personally don't like off the shouldered bridal..it doesn't sound or look right..same with sleeveless..i think thought that i'd have short sleeves and maybe a wide NOT LOW neck..if that makes any sense..
But to the original comment..If your MIL seems to be fine about it and you feel comfortable or would like to wear one then maybe you should go for it :)

Yea that dress is not flattering on her! Personally I wouldn't be comfy showing that much skin up top at a desi event....in front of my dad, future FIL etc.....but to each her own I guess.
If she had worn her hair down it wouldn’t have looked so ‘scandalous’ imo.. also she has quite broad shoulders, a more petite girl might have pulled it off better.. The bride in Nabz’ photo with the white and silver off the shoulder top looks sweet..

I think it has a lot to do w/ the fact that it's a deep neck. It looks like it's falling off her which indeed makes me look skanky.

I don't know about anyone else but NOTHING will ever convince me that such dresses can look good. wahayat wahayat wahayat! Not just the dresses but even those who support this!

the problem is the shirt is not fitted correctly at all.........she needs to also wear a strapless bra
having said that, the whole colour combination of the outfit is hideous
