The entire nation of Pakistan (almost) falls into the area occupied by the Indus Valley Civilization, at its peak some 2000 years BC. This was a civilization of incredible sophistication, urban planning, sewer systems, banking, arts, farming, agriculture, etc.
The civilization gradually fell into decline as all others do, but I find that far from celebrating this wonderful heritage of the people of the Indus (thats us btw), most Pakistanis either are ignorant of it or deny its revelance to us. Many claim to be Arabs, that makes me laugh.
I do not suggest we leave Islam, but at the same time we should glofiry our past and its traditions, its faiths-it seems they had a male and female God, (we come from a people who glorify there women -stark contrast to Muslim Pakistan nowadays-), rituals of immense size and celebration.
Should not all this be taught, alongside the standard “nothing until Islam came”?..
and before this aspect of the indus valley civilization what was there before that and what did they believe, what was thus the 'true self' of the people and heritage you want to celebrate.
I suggest we climb on trees and eat bananas, to celebrate our heritage even before that ..per hazrat darwin. we eat bananas still so we are halfway there anyways.
^ good post but you must also realize that its also a lost civilization which sorta perished, so we dont know much about it except for what we make out of the remains. Plus, being back then life primarily revolved around agriculture and farming, it doesnt anymore.
acknowledging it does not mean following it or celebrating it.
let us not forget the Indust Valley Civilization
but lets not forget what came before indus valley civilization as well.
