purchasing power, per capita GDP etc etc.
all human development indicators, education, infant mortality, all better.
but thats just facts, not a big factor in pakistani politics :)
This time u visit Pakistan - please go to any rural place and sing these indicators to have-nots.. prices of commodities including edible oil, flour, maizes, rice have quandrupled in last few years whereas purchasing power has nose-dived..
So you are in the USA, hence you can't really talk about the economic situation on the ground in Pakistan or the prices of commodities etc. Jhoota Rajput. Shame on you.

nahin.. I talk to my folks regularly and they update about the prices... they tell me how prices have increased sharply.. eating out is the only Punjabi families used to do in their spare time and lot of em are cutting down on that.. ask any Punjabi on the forum.. are you a Punjabi?

Yes from Punjab. While there are hardships as there have been always, the situation is not as dire as you always paint it out to be.
show me stats.
i have already posted stats on everything i have mentioend including the improvemenmts in human development indicators :)
Call ur folks in Karachoi and ask how much 3 kg of edible oil costed in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007 for an example.. i bought it in Lahore for Rs 290 couple of months back and now its Rs 390!
As far as indicators are concerned i work in a project sapnning in 20 towns in Punjab.. they way they are faked up everyone knows..

you must also look at the demand and supply factor before looking at prices,
you cant compare 1999 with 2007, when in 2007 10 times more oil sells then in 1999.

But. What about purchasing power.. very few have seen their incomes going up... whereas, vast majority are still stuck in vicious pverty cycle whereas thay have to brace these high inflation..
u may work in a project spanning 20 towns in punjab, I have worked on projects that dealt with entire human development indexes of pakistan. even if u claim numbers have been faked, its not as if they were 100 accurate in porevious regimes, so even if you give a margin of error incrementally more than the margin of error from past u still come out ahead.
the assessments of major financial institutions of the world are also based on expert assessment of more than chuk number pachees to paintalees.
And thats the reason u talk as Shaukat Aziz and his indicators whereas, I work with the people who are well below povery line! I see their plight and ever increasing burden caused by the inflation.. the economic explosion we talk in seminars dont trickle down... not only economic woes but social justice problems such as access to justice, police and others are making their lives real hard..
Can ur indicators also say if common people in last 8 years have more security and help from police, are better treated in jails, courts, in public offices etc. ?
Return of Nawaz has once again shown that fake show by Musharaf is just a fraud.. how the Govt. is just a pack of looters and nab zades.. how Musharaf has panicked and the whole country is not hostaged from the fear of Nawaz.. It shows that real leaders such as Nawaz and Benazir have such a strong following in Pakistan..
Where does all economic indicators fall in this scenerio? If peopel are so happy with this economic surge then why Nazaz whose time economic was so bad not allowed to come freely? People will reject him as teh present Govt. has done wonders for common people - but in reality present Govt lacks legitimicy!!!

well when you look at prices its all about demand and supply, its what determines the prices, in pakistan demand has gone up 10 times more but supply isnt that high, there for prices go through the roof.
and purchasing power has doubled hasnt it, so what are you saying.
income in pakistan has shooted up as well as the prices in all industrys.

Incomes has gone up for 1-2 % whereas, teh vast majority have to face ever increasing prices of commodities.. thus creating a vast gap between have and have-nots.. same as BJP lost in India (India did much better than Pakistan) inspite of doing wonders since fruit of development didnt reached the down trodden..
