Return of International Cricket to Pakistan - PCB's lack of initiative

Salams all - Finally got some energy to write here about Pak Cricket. Sorry but I am not as devoted as a lot of you. But mind you that I have been following the developments and observing from a distance.

Here is my latest POV (nothing earth shattering though !! but I was shocked to read it)

PCB, with its revolving door of leadership and specifically its current boss, portrays in its entirety an utterly farcical image. If it weren’t for some spirited cricketers, Pakistani fans would not even have a ray of hope.

I don’t know what you all think of Mani, but if this is true then PCB needs a kick in the behind…

Re: Return of International Cricket to Pakistan - PCB's lack of initiative

As long as Ijaz Butt is heading PCB there is little hope for improvement within cricket board or of transparency in team selection. As we saw in the case of Younus Khan, Butt is running the board like his personal business, frequently poking his nose in selection matters which are none of his business. What are the selectors and chief selector there for if Butt is literally going to decide everything himself, a curse of the VVIP culture prevalent in almost every walk of life in Pakistan. We might as well do away with the selection committee.

Re: Return of International Cricket to Pakistan - PCB's lack of initiative

The security situation in Pak is not in PCB's control . This is not a PR issue. This is a serious life and death matter.

Frankly, I think Pakistani fans should not insist on inviting foreign teams to Pakistan. We were fortunate that SL attack did not result in foreign casualties. A guest cricketer dying in Pakistan would be an unimaginable disaster. We just don't have the security situation under control. Let's not pretend otherwise.

We should just be patient and hope that the security situation improves in our country.

:k:

Whats the point? Our pitches are dull and the games are all boring...dead pitches where the ball doesent even get to knee height.

Anyhow, security sucks at the moment. The taliban physcos are all over the place and then you have politicians trying to stick it to the government so they themselves can grab power..so its not safe for teams to come to Pakistan.

Maybe in another 2 years. If we rush and some foreigner gets killed we can never live it down.

agreed with hollywood and krash.. its not worth trying right now and nobody would come anyway. the pcb should be proactive organizing more tours abroad though. what is lined up after the eng series?
