Where do you see yourself once you have retired? What will you be doing?
Although retirement is something far far away for me, I still do like to think about it. Supposedly you will be free from all major responsibilities of raising kids, making your lifestyle etc., so it should be “your” time to take it easy and do things that you have always wanted to do.
I would say that before I retire, I’d like to put some money into starting a business, hopefully something that I wouldnt have to run instead I’d like to spend a few hours working with employees. I would never want to lose touch with work and the business field. Another thing that I see myself doing is traveling, not just to the “known” and famous places but also the off the beaten path locales, historical sites etc. The final thing (for now) I’d like to do is buy a boat and spend my weekends on the water.
RF, my outlook on retirement almost mirrors yours. Since in a year I will have my MBA, I intend to start my own hotel and banqueting business right away afterwards. To that end, when I retire, I definitely will keep in touch with my business although not so much hands-on at that point since I will have employees to manage the daily operations of the business. I look forward to traveling to exotic places, catching a few safaris and cruises. I intend to divide my time between the 2 homes I wish to have one day: one in the US, the other in Murri, northern Pakistan (vacation getaway)...hmmm...and possibly a third, in Italy somewhere if I can afford that too. I just want to have a happy set retirement knowing that my children and grandchildren are on the right path in their lives, and that my business will thrive long after I am deceased.
hmmm..... Atleast 10 years prior to retirement, hope to have kid(s) out of college and thus won't be draining the wallet anymore. Plan to shuttle between Pakistan and US all year around. With Pakistan, hope to join an NGO and try to give back to the soil that produced a bum like moi. While in the US, hope to just spend time with kids and their families...
Nope, no plans of cruise around the world or extensive traveling.
well my retirement plans from today's point of view are .... (err who knows if i live so long to enjoy retirement salary) is to spend time living in Pakistan and Europe (maybe 6 months here and 6 months in pak) ... I think it is good to invest some money monthly right now into retirments funds, that will be paid with your 'normal' pension, as we all know that the situation might not be so bright for us when we join retirment.
