Far right movements have been gaining ground in the last few years. People fear losing their cultural identity, more so than their religious identity. I sort of understand why they do, what they do, but in no way, shape or form do I condone this behavior.

On the other hand, the media has been running the anti-Muslim smear campaign since forever, and it was put into overdrive after the events of September, 11. They can't expect people to share anything but negative sentiments towards Islam. In-fact this Islamophobia campaign has been so successful that even the people of Japan, as kind as they are, have their reservations about Islam.
So, they should stop pretending that they have nothing to do with the rise of the far right movements across the world and admit fault.

Lastly, I do partly agree with these generals. France can disintegrate into chaos and civil unrest. If the French government doesn't stop meddling with people's religious affairs. Also, they need to remember, France has one of the largest populations of Muslim people in western Europe. You cannot expect more than 3m people to bow down to establishment, this isn't China.

The Islamists played right into the hands of the right wing as they are dumb as hell. Yes right wing was always there but they were a fringe group and the right wing was able to exploit the stupidity of extremists and the discontent of socio economic hardships and become a mainstream group. Majority of whites voted for Trump, who, in my opinion is right wing. Terrorists cause extreme damage to muslims and strenghten and embolden the right wing. The terrorist might have beheaded a teacher which will result in lost opportunities for millions, millions may die and many refugees will not be allowed to safety and there will be no political will to help persecuted muslims in the world and Modi's will get away with murder.

Some countries are already starting to send hundreds of refugees back.

Also looking at recent events in Pak TLP affair, it was always claimed that extremists were a miniscule portion of the population but TLP protests showed otherwise.

Generals are an elite segment of that society, they are just trying to divert the attention of their masses from actual issues faced by common French people. It is important to understand what is actually happening there which unfortunately MSM doesn’t tell.

France is undergoing social upheaval for quite sometime now and their elite is trying to pin it on every one else but themselves. A few years ago France started charging 75% in taxes which shook the top businesses who were already under strain due to union laws there. It was almost impossible to get rid of poor performing employees there. It was as if once someone is hired, the employer was locked with that employee till employee’s retirement. The businesses compensated for that with their own tricks, as a result finding a regular professional job in France for a fresh graduate became almost impossible. In many cases people would make less being employed than staying unemployed there.

When those policies failed, they attempted a U-turn by making business friendly laws to pay their bills. But now their society is adapted to the old ways and the changes have thrown many people off-balance. The elite wanted to divert the attention of their masses so they stop protesting, but they got more than what they bargained for. Few days ago Macron was crying foul of English language media that how it did not supported his anti-Islam narrative and instead blamed France for going out of the way to look for trouble. After having failed to divert the attention of their masses. The French government is now making laws to quell Yellow vest protests on their streets. One such law is that it will be now illegal to record police while performing their duty. Imagine, the whole BLM movement would not have happened if such laws would’ve been there in the US.

Just yesterday, during MayDay protests, thousands of people marched in Paris to protest the economic policies of their government. The elite is getting very uncomfortable there.
