Re: Resume Preparation
Go for the simplest format. The simple it is the better it gets read . The more complicated it is , the more it gets chucked into the bin without being read .
Here's a rough idea of what you are looking for :
Objective : no more then two lines
Summary : experience , skills and achievements in just 4-5 lines .
Employment history : name of the employer , your position , their website link if possible , time you spent working at the company . Your responsibilities + achievements in each employment.
Academics and short courses or certifications
skills and languages
Personal info : address, mobile number, email address etc
The clarity of information given is extremely important, so keep sentences short. Use bullet points as much as you can. In the summary para, bold a few words of importance so they can skim through. Put only important info on the CV , minimal things can be discussed later if needed. Keep the CV short . no more then two pages.

How do you market your CV?
Well there are the following ways :
1- Word of mouth : pass it on to friends and ask them to hand the CV out to their HR people in the companies they work at. This is called internal referral and many companies look at CV's from referrals first before advertising a job with a recruitment company.
2- Identify the top 5-6 recruitment companies that post jobs related to your qualification. Send them your CV and see if you can meet any of their consultants and develop a relationship . you need to be on top of their mind when the right job comes along. Keep in touch with them at least once a month if you are actively searching.
3- look at newspapers . The appointment section has many job opportunities . Send your CV there
4- Online websites are a huge success with alot of hiring companies. Start posting your CV in various job sites
5- companies have a career portal of their own. you can drop your CV and it goes in their database. So if there isnt a job opportunity at the moment, they will give you a call when one arises , if they you are shortlisted.
