Re: Results and their consequences
How many of you expected such a resounding victory for PML-N?
Lets forget, for a second only, what happened in the last 8-9 years. If you put PML-N and Q together which they actually were you have PML as the winner of these elections. A lot of seats won by PPP in punjab was maily due to the split of muslim league votes between two strong candidates.
I beg to differ with you....yesterday was not a typical election PML vs PPP in Punjab....it was clearly an election agaist Musharraf...unprecedented unity was demonstrated by people in the streets....infact PPP and PML N voters were facilitating each other...and every vote against Q league was considered a vote against Musharraf....
Don't be so surprised on PML N victory....Nawaz Sharif got his votes not because of PML factor...but because of his clear anti Musharraf and pro judiciary stand...even Zardari's votes in Punjab were basically anti Musharraf votes...I hope these leaders now mend their past ways and respect the people's mandate....specially if Mr. Zardai tries to save illegal President....believe me PPP will be wiped out of Punjab forever without a single seat in future for the party...
Actually people wanted to give Zardari a new chance...for the sake of the unity of Pakistan....and expect him to stand above his personal gains...and probably if he does that people will forgive him for his past deeds...
What he needs to do is immediately impeach the illegal President...and bring forward people like Aitzaz Ahsan and Amin Faheem for president/prime minister slots...and bring out his party from personality cult....if he wants his party to survive in future....otherwise I can assure you his party will be wiped out of Punjab...
