The Americans have started showing their true colours now.
No US message on 14th Aug shocks Pak community
ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Americans have expressed shock and surprise over the non-conveyance of a traditional message from the White House on the occasion of the Pakistan Independence Day. Public Secretary of White House Office of Presidential Messages Miss Emnaley told the Secretary General of Pakistan Day Parade Committee in New York City, Tariq Khokhar, and Executive Member Inayat Shaikh, that they had decided in principle not to extend any message on the occasion.
The Pakistani American community leaders believe that in view of the tragic September 11 events and the plight of the Pakistani Muslim community, the decision not to send a formal message on behalf of the US president is disappointing, to say the least. They pointed out that Pakistan had become America’s number one ally in the US war against terrorism worldwide.
They contended that the White House decision sent wrong signal to the Muslims living in the US. They asked the White House to reconsider its decision because the fallout of such a decision could have a negative impact in the forthcoming elections. There are approximately half a million Pakistani American voters across the US.
