Restaurants

Can anyone provide any useful reviews for desi or restaurants in the NYC area?

Including things like best/worst dishes, pricing, cleanliness, friendly or cruel service, locations?

Neverminding the fact that I spelled it wrong in my title?

Re: Resteraunts

Dosa Dinner in JH, I hope it is open now, it has the yumiest south indian food and fresh too...

Re: Resteraunts

My fave is Bahar, it's Afghani and the food is very good. Like most desi restaurants, its not totally high-dining but neither is it some cheap takeaway place, its somewhere in the middle (so you can stop in and dine casually with friends or dress up for a formal dinner)... I've been there twice and the service was pretty good. I'd recommend their mango lassi (or is it milkshake? dont remember) and any chicken/rice dish. My fave was this chicken/yogurt type thing, i cant remember hte name, fesenjon or something. I would NOT recommend you get their pasta, wheN I ordered it was basically noodles floating in oil! Yuck! Money wise, its somewhere in the middle, whenever three of us ate there, the bill came to $50-60 but we always had something left over...

Another few restaurants there are Bokhari and Bukhara.. One of them is next tO Raheela's parlor and the other is a few blocks down. SOrry but I forget which is which :D One of htem is a popular wedding hall.. there's also one called Paradise East, i've not been there yet but from the pictures I saw it seemed pretty decent.

Re: Resteraunts

Thanks sara - where is Bahar located?

Also, anyone know anything about Pehlwan resteraunt? Or Paradise East?

Re: Resteraunts

Restaurants, not Resteraunts
I thought you were teaching spelling to Mizzrani in other thread :omg:

Re: Resteraunts

Coney Island Avenue and Avenue…uhhh…:ahaa: H!
Paradise East is I think on Ave I. Let me double check for u

Re: Resteraunts

How about you teach yourself some reading comprehension.

Like reading when she said: “Never minding the fact that I spelled it wrong in my title.”

Re: Resteraunts

why don’t you beat yourself and read the title again :omg:

Re: Restaurants

I, unlike some people, have no problem admitting when I make a mistake. If it bothers you so much you can PM a mod to edit it. I don't think I'm able to edit titles. I don't have that time to message mods about something silly.

Uff, thanks guys. It looks like I'm going to be going into random places trying my luck. :(

Pray that I find some good gulab jamun. I haven't had them for a while!

Re: Restaurants

^ Jackson Heights! :yummy:

Re: Restaurants

Jackson Heights is so filled with Guju's. Of course, I felt more at home there, but I do like my Pakistani beefy guys. I think I'm going to visit Coney Island this time around.

Re: Restaurants

my vote is coney island lived on the island wasn't super impressed with any of the food unless you spend loads of money and hit bukhara grill....which just annoys me to spend that much on desi food :)

Re: Resteraunts

lolz hahaha bt she realised eh

lucky u knw who gts disheartened over spellings is nt here yet …

Re: Restaurants

What the hell is this Coney Island? What a joke.

Re: Restaurants

hey pyaricgudia
visit
www.zabihah.com
they break it out for you, all different types of halal restaurants, just search by NY. They even have reviews and star ratings by the customers who have eaten there. Its a pretty decent site. Also a lot of them let you know which are really zabihah as opposed to when some people say halal when they mean its chicken/beef not pork but isnt zabihah. Have fun!
