I don’t know what’s the “best” but there are quite a few… Lahore Tikka House on Gerard street, salt n pepper somewhere in mrs agha, kara mia, lin garden, there’s a whole bunch really. most of the restaurants I’ve been to, it’ll usually end up being $30-40 for two people…that’s my estimate…Cheaper option is to visit these places during lunch time and have their lunch specials.
Saimb33 I have been hearing a lot about lahore tikka house, what is good to order there. We are only gonna be in Toronto for a short while and I would hate to order something and have it turn out bad... so pls recommend something.
Also any place that sells karachi street food like paratha rolls (am seriously craving those) and dahi baray (the ones I am talking abt are slightly sweet and the mirch part is achieved by sprinkling of chaat masala. Very karachi style)
^ at lahore tikka house I remember the kababs (beef ke) were simply amazing...that was perhaps the thing that stood out to me most but I honestly don't remember anything that was bad.
Then again it has been 4+ years since I went, so my info isn't too current...
the beef seekh kebobs are what EVERYONE orders! Those are really good. Also their chicken tikka masala is really good. You have to have their tandoor naan, and finish dinner off with their kulfi. I would NOT recommend their biryani, its not good.
when you get to Gerrard Street, you can ask people on the street or the store owners where the best paratha rolls and dahi baray are, they should be able to help you out.
I went to almost all the places mentioned in the link Sara has provided. I live in NYC so I don't know if I can be a good judge of what's good because I get all kind of halal food here. I just enjoyed my trip and ate a lot :)
Agreed with Sara and Saimab - the thing to order from lahore tikka house is their seekh kababs and fresh tandoor naan.
I went to lin garden when I was in Toronto this week. I enjoyed the food but my BIL didn’t. He felt the quality of the food has gone down.
Kara Mia - was not expecting much out of a desi italian restaurant but I was very impressed. The service was really slow but it was super busy. At the end food was good so I didn’t mind the wait.
Places I haven’t been to but heard a lot about are: Affys grill http://www.affysgrill.com/ and Eddie’s Wok’n’Roll.
We loved Kara Mia, sadly they did not have Tiramisu and I really wanted to try their tiramisu. The food was amazing :) . Affy's grill was awesome as well. Love their peppercorn sauce.
We hated Eddie's, we got a sucky waiter who couldn't recommend any popular items, we ordered General Tao's sizzling chicken, Manchurian chow mein, chicken lollipops, hot and sour soup and tom yum soup. The soups were the only things that were finished. Hubby hasn't stopped saying how much he hated it and is blaming me for the bad dinner :( ... I didn't know what to order.
We also loved hero burger, nandos (halal OMG) and Pamier kebab. The portions in pretty much all the places were quite generous.
