Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

Good news!

The Ruth's Chris Steak House across from Square one is offering HALAL steaks. You have to call them 2 or 3 days before, and they will get halal steak for ya!

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

^ really hinna? thats cool! never actually had steak before....but they look really good.....

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

^ yup.

There' also some restaurant..I think it's called Big Chicks or something like that. It's right across from Erin Mills Town Centre and it's halal as well.

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

big chicks....hmmm...just the name turns me off.....

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

OMG!!!

Okay…I’m in!!!
They do the very, very best steak!! Next to Black Angus, of course.
And their baked potatoes are the size of cantaloupes…not that I’m going to be devouring one dripping with butter, sour cream and chives…no, no…well…maybe!!! I won’t eat for a week after that…I promise!!!

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

lets do it girls!! who is up for it?

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

well i just had lunch at Wang's....its an indian chinese place at hwy 10 and eglington (next to harveys')....i asked them if it was halal..the server said it was, but i dont trust 'em...unless it has a sign then saying it;'s halal, thne i would eat the meat....anyways it was pretty good...for $6.50 u can have this lunch combo....so i had gobi manchurian, vegetable soup, veggie spring roll and hakka veggie noodles....it wasnt the best chinese food ive tasted, but considering the price and the fact that im full....its a pass from me!

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

Wow, everytime I got visit my parents in Brampton, they get takeout from Singapore Garden, mmm… mmmm… goooood!

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

Lets c, saturday afternoon, we treated them to lunch at Sahara restaurant [their choice] (nxt to salt n pepper). I liked the food,it tasted gud, but my parents dint like it..i dunno why..the decor was nice, very clean and elegant. Also it wasn’t crowded at all which was a plus. you dint need to yell to be heard.

Saturday night my parents and I went to eat pizza, we went to Pizza N Joy..pizza was okay, but it was weird, i asked the guy if its halal, and he said yeah (he was desi) and my dad said absolutely not..but whatever..pizza was not that bad.. not the best but not bad either.

And finally, sunday night we all went to Lahore Tikka house on Gerrard street. We all ordered butter chicken, lamb kabab, butter naan, and lala’s machlee and chicken tikka and karahi gosht and kababs. The food smelled great, but eating it was a bit of a disappointment, portions were kinda small, and the karahi gosht was a tad undercooked. But the service was pretty good. It all reminded me of Food street in Lahore. It was windy, cheap paper plates and cups and seating, and all we needed was a hanairee to get hte true Food street xperience :phati: :cb: the only thing i HATED was the soundstage that was right behind us, all the singing and stuff, u cud barely talk to anyone in a normal voice, you had to yell to be heard..

All in all, those three places were okay..I dun think i’d go back there on a regular basis, i’d like to try different restaurants and types of food, but I can’t do that wiht my family :frowning:

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

and OMG TO/missassagua was crawling with desis..everywhere we went, walmart, future store somethin something, pizzerias, etc, all desis..that was pretty kewL :)

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

sahara is pretty good....their lunch buffet is decent compared to the price....(and its a halal restaurant close to where i work..so its all good)...yeah lahore tikka house...its used to be really good....now its going downhill....my sister knows the owner, so once when we went there, he gave us one free naan (big whoop!..lol...)..the last time we all went there, the waiter spilled salan on on my brother's white pants and suede shoes....boy, was he pissed! and still, they wouldnt give us some sort of compensation....ah well.....sara, usually the bandstand thingy isnt there....that was just for that south asian mela weekend...they are doing construction, (and so far the bathroom is the only nice looking part....lol...)....now all this talk about food is making me hungry...grrrr....

Re: restaurant hopping TORONTO

yea sahara is good but expensive :)

Anyone tried mexican food before? I heard its just spicy as desi food?
