I truly think ALLAH has given equal power to both men and women but they have separate responsibilities. For some reason women *themselves and the more “dominate (in traditional terms)” role of men *has weakened women overall.
So does this mean if women again take the power given to them (being a mother) and apply it to their responsibilities, we wouldn’t face problems such as “evil” husbands, mil’s, sil’s, etc.?
I may be wrong, but I think it all starts with the mother. If a son is taught well, someones daughter will be treated well. If a daughter is taught well, she will be a great MIL in the future. And so on. When you believe there is some sort of gender hierarchy, that tells me you weren’t raised properly.
Fathers are extremely important too, but they have separate responsibilities and it doesn’t include having a maternal instinct.
Re: Responsibility and Power Instilled Within Women
fathers don't have maternal instincts, but they have responsibilities towards children too. and those responsibilities are not just going out of the home all day, working and coming home to a hot cup of tea and the newspaper. puke.

I guess that depends more on so many other factors including the society. Specially when we speak of desi society most of the values on how to treat women comes from the father. Also these values are instilled in young boys when they see a discrimination between how they are treated as compared to their sisters. Even if a mother tries to change it she can only go to a certain level in these scenarios. So the responsibility should be shared between father and mother when it comes to instilling values

So well said!
I totally agree. A woman must first decide that she will educate herself on how to better her life. She may not have fancy degree but the willingness to make a difference instead of living a mundane and useless life. She must empower herself and apply wisdom in raising her children.
And fathers need to take the time out to be a parent. It's not just about bringing home an income.
Re: Responsibility and Power Instilled Within Women
If discussion is about “physical strength” of men and women, its a Fuzool ka Feminism. It has been proved scientifically that men are biologically stronger than women but stronger does not really mean better. Truck is more powerful than luxury car, yet 99.99% of people will choose luxury car for travelling.
If this is a discussion about emotional strength, assumption of responsibilities and power in dynamics of society, tactics and upbringing of kids then yes, men and women are equal.
