my fav female artist on the Pakistani music scene.

she’s my dad’s fav female artist too :slight_smile:

i LOVE this woman :k: her style, her grace, her personality, her presence, her humility & modesty, she jus exhudes warmth & purity :mash:

…she suffers from cancer…

there was a program on PTV a month back or so called “Reshma ko Khiraaj-e-Tehseen” i had meant to write abt it on GS but each time got lazy. even wrote a whole post almost once but deleted it.

anyways, she is really so cool :k:

Anwar MaQsood was compering that program

and Reshma was sitting with the Qawwal Shokat Ali in the front seats

many female singers came and sang songz of Reshma’s…humera arshad, shahida minni, and others including Reshma’s own niece

Reshma herself also sung a few songs…

she said “Pakistan kee awam ka ehsaan hae jo mujh ko KHADDAR se RESHMA bana dya”

Shokat Ali gave her a glowing tribute and in the end he said “Lahore Lahore ae aur Reshma Rehma ae”

at one point when Shahida Mini was singing one of Reshma’s songs, Shokat Ali started crying & Reshma hugged him to give him some tasalli…the song was “haye o rabba nayo lagDa dil mera”

i’ll share some more abt the program later…it was riveting…kept me glued to the TV all nite, it was on at like 3am or something

I love her songs. It's sad that she has cancer. :( She's indeed Pakistan's best.

irem did you ever hear her famous interview about what happened when she came for her first visit to USA and didnt know English and someone told her to say yes to anything anyone asks. I dont remember what actually happened, but it was very very funny.
You are right though, she is awesome. Didnt know she had cancer though. may Allah give her good health.

She sang this REALLY awesome song for a Pak film called "Rabba Meriya"....I wanna get my hands on it ASAP!!! It's so brilliant ....

i think i can recall something like that but dont remember the exact interview...hmm..
she always has some nice stories to share abt her lack of ability to speak english :) i think unlike others who try to speak english at all costs, she comes as a breath of fresh air who is not in denial about her roots and doesnt try to be a wannabe
i love the way that even after becoming such a successful singer she is so modest and always dresses in shalwaar kameez with dupatta on her head :)

DHTN she is definitely the best...
it is sad about her disease..may Allah swt grant her shifaa

Well, its kind of hard to trace on the net. I'll have to somehow tell someone in Pak to upload it from the CD and hopefully will share it with you guys! It's from this Shaan-directed film, and the song really mesmerised me when I heard it...

So keep your fingers crossed :)
