Rescue Team fined

now here is a news breaker we dont hear every day. I mean this should be on news.yahoo.com’s odd news section

A rescue team that arrived at Islamabad airport didnt have a pakistani visa and were asked to pay a fine of $100 per head. After a while come one from the high up intervened and cleared the rescue team and gave them entry into Pakistan. the matter is being investigated.

Re: Rescue Team fined

Yea that is strange...esp. since i heard they were being really nice about giving visas to UK residents so they cud go to Pakistan to find out about their relatives; and have opened a desk for them at Heathrow making it easier to obtain visas...but hmm, i wonder how they even got to Islamabad without a visa.

Re: Rescue Team fined

True. This needs to be in the "odd news" in yahoo. Probably the front end workers were just doing what they were told ...but glad to hear that someone had enough sense to let those people go without the fine since they were in Pakistan to help.

Re: Rescue Team fined

without paper-work no one should be allowed. simple as that. if they really want to come and help they should have contact their ministry to help them in that regard. you cannot let ppl enter the country without proper paperwork. this is simply wrong.

Re: Rescue Team fined

We all have our opinions, but if your family was dying and you had the chance of bringing a little more hope of saving them via some modern technology that these teams bring with them, then I am sure you would not be singing the paperwork song.

Re: Rescue Team fined

I think the immigration guy did a fine job of upholding his duty, despite it being inconvenient…

Charity is charity, aid is aid and duty is duty…Everyone was doing their job and no doubt the immigration officer did a very good job of his own…Kudos…:k:

Re: Rescue Team fined

^ Agree with that.

Re: Rescue Team fined

and common sense is common sense but I understand he was doing his duty

Re: Rescue Team fined

its not like they are tourists or something…they are there…because they were ASKED to help

Re: Rescue Team fined

stupidity has no ends....

Re: Rescue Team fined

where was the team from (country)?

Re: Rescue Team fined

Its like inviting you over for dinner and then charging you a cover charge for entering the house.

Re: Rescue Team fined

absolutely!! :k:

Re: Rescue Team fined

yeah!! but you can’t just let “anyone” enter .. because human can only “judge” or make decisions according to proof !! many “bad apples” can take “advantage” too.. u see when tsunami hit Indonasia .. australian “spy” was detected (and return back to their country) even they enter as an “aid”… so u know what i mean?/

Re: Rescue Team fined

Agree. If you invite someone for dinner you must check and make sure that its the same person you invited!

Good job immigration people.

Re: Rescue Team fined

^ If that is the criteria then the passport and ID should be checked....and they shouldnt be fined for VISAs missing. So if you come to my house I should check your ID and charge you cover also ? get a life man!
If your loved ones were stuck under the rubble you would be singing a different song and in falsetto.

Re: Rescue Team fined

May be I am wrong but I read somewhere recently that the Pak Govt had suspended the visa requirements for the 'foreign rescue teams'???

Re: Rescue Team fined

I have read the same. I have no read much about this story so dont know what exactly happened, for all we know it could have been some paper pusher on a power trip, confusion on procedure, who knows.

the teams that are going in now are exewmpt from visa requirements from what I read, but I would just assume that they ahve to be part of some disaster recovery team or NGO, i dont think that if five dudes just got together and decided to go they would be considered the same as a 5 member team from red cross.

Re: Rescue Team fined

With Allah’s grace I have a great life. Thank you!

When some does a required job then that person must be praised. There must have been some miscommunication and no one actually knew how to handle the situation.

it could be that the person did not have the ruling of visa fee waiver in time so just did his job. Why be mad for no reason? Money can always be returned.

Too much emotion my friend are not good for health.
