I personally don't want to get married this year, I'm not ready and neither are my parents or anything. We've discussed the idea of doing the Nikkah now and the wedding later (which I know will never happen if we go down this path) but no one wants that (ie my parents and his). I guess we're ok with it.
I don't know how long they've known about the surgery. These are things my mom told me to keep my mouth shut on so I did. I have a pretty sharp tongue so I would've asked them right off the bat. I just told my parents I'm out of the planning, they can plan it with his parents or do whatever.
