Re: Requesting a recipe!!

This is the recipe I use, turns out yummy everytime.

Tandoori Chicken
The recipe I have is for a large quantity but you can reduce it, the left overs make good sandwiches.

6-10 Chicken drumsticks and/or breast pieces, I remove the skin
1 cup plain yoghurt or 2 cups Buttermilk
1 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder
1 tbsp ginger powder
2 tbsp coriander powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp cumin powder
1/2 tbsp garam masala
2 tbsp salt

Prick the chicken pieces with a fork all over or make deep cuts, this will help with the flavoring and materinating. Take a wide and deep bowl enough to hold all the chicken pieces. Add the yugurt into the bowl. Add all the spices and stir them well. Next add the chicken into the mixture and make sure all of the chicken is covered with the speices and the garlic and ginger. Cover the bowl with a lid and let it stand for 4 hours, if your going to marinate it for longer than put it in the fridge. The more time you marinate it the more the chicken will absorb the spcies and make it yummier. I usually do 6 hours. You can either grill the chicken or bake it in the oven. If you grill it in on a BBQ than brush it with some butter. Bake/grill to your preference, meaning how much you want it cooked.

Garnish;
Cut an onion into rings add some vinegar (or lemon) and salt to it, once the chicken is on the serving platter garish it with the onion rings, green peppers or even some fresh mint or coriander.

Re: Requesting a recipe!!

belle, thank you veryyyyyyy much...!!:)

i'm definitely going to try this inshaAllah!!

Re: Requesting a recipe!!

The above recipe is identical to mine except I also add 2 tablespoon of vinegar and juice of one lemon in my marinade.

Re: Requesting a recipe!!

:) i cheat n add a lil shan tandoori masala

Re: Requesting a recipe!!

Does’nt lemon spoil the yoghurt

thats what i was told by my aunt.

Re: Requesting a recipe!!

Following the recipe belle listed above I made the tandori chicken tonight, it came out pretty good.

I didn’t have red color at home, so I used haldi. A cup of yogurt was barely enough for the 5 chicken legs, so people might want to use some more. Also, salt is always by preference and we don’t eat much (I mixed only 1 tsp).

For garnish, I sprinkled some all purpose seasoning on the chicken before putting it in the oven. I also sautéed one whole onion, a tomato, a few green olives, a bell pepper and jalapeño peppers as I love the taste of sautéed onions!

400F for 40 minutes, though I think it could use 5 more minutes. But this totally depends on your oven.
