Re: Req: Recipe for Albaik's White Garlic Sauce
hi snakeeyed....i hav read all the recipes above everyone has its own....but i must tell u that no body knew that exact recipe....so plz tell me where do u live?
in pak or somewhere else?
coz in lahore there's resturant by the name of "AL-NAKHAL"...where u can find other arabic dishes like hummas, mutabbal nd others...if u know these....and also the graet GArlic sauce....its exactly the same taste.
That sauce doesn't have mayo, yoghurt or soy sauce in it... it's egg white, garlic paste and olive oil that's poured in steady stream to the sauce emulsifies into the thick paste. It's seasoned with salt..
ok u are talking about "Toum"
Gina some ppl do make it with mayo...its not the authentic way but it is made that way as well.
Have you been to saudia arabia?? If yes, then you may have come across Albaik Broast. Its a chain of fast food restaurants throughtout Jeddah, Makkah and ....Medina (i guess). So when you buy broast chicken over there, they give you Garlic Sauce (just like Mayonaise) and tomato ketchup.
The Garlic sauce is mind blowing. so I m looking for the recipe.
:)

That sounds good, im gonna try it with lemon juice.
Re: Req: Recipe for Albaik's White Garlic Sauce
My trial of the recipe here was a disaster indeed and no body ate it.
Angel Eyes, "thoum" is served with "shish tawook" and grilled meat.. the poster asked for the recipe that Al-Baik has.. that version doesn't have soya sauce, pepper, oregano or mayo.

LOL!!!
What recipe did u follow (so i don't make the same mistake!)
Ask Gina for full detailed recipe including measurements, i'm guessing it should b ok.

I mix store bought tahini with yoghurt, lemon juice, freshly crushed garlic and freshly cracked black peppers. Don't know how authentic it is but it works for me.
Re: Req: Recipe for Albaik’s White Garlic Sauce
This is the recipe I use, taken from Fauzia’s Kitchen Fun on Facebook:
1 large p…otato
4 cloves of garlic (use less or more depending on your preference)
2-3 tbsp mayonnaise
2 tbsp yoghurt
1 tbsp fresh cream
half tsp tahini sauce (optional)
1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice
2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
half tsp red chilli powder (optional)
pinch of salt
Boil the potato with 2 cloves of garlic and a pinch of salt until potato is tender. Drain the water.
Add all the ingredients into a blender including the boiled potato and garlic. Blend until completely smooth. Sauce will be somewhat sticky and thick. Adjust salt to your taste.
Sauce is ready! Tastes better the following day, so can be made a day in advance and keeps well for up to a week in the fridge. ![]()
It’s really good! And I do use the tahini!

Re: Req: Recipe for Albaik's White Garlic Sauce
^^ thanks. Looks and sounds nice, will try.
Any tips on making shawarma like the street vendors sell in Lahore? What else do they put in? Thanks in advance, Im trying to convince someone to make their own shawarma instead of sending her brother out 4 times a week to buy.

Nothing can beat cock and bull...........even thought its not authentic shawarma but the saucy goodness cant be made at home. Apart from meat and usual salads, they load it up with a sauce that is some what like thousand island sauce
