Republican Convention 2004

Republican Convention 2004 is around the corner. We had a successful thread covering Democratic Convention with over 65 posts and now it is time to cover Republican’s dramay bazzi…..sorry I mean convention……..please post all relevant posts under this thread. Thanks

What in the world are they going to talk about to cast themselves in a positive light? What accomplishments in the past 4 years can possibly merit re-election? Look for a lot of smoke and mirrors shrouded in the American flag.

^ heheh look for WWE style loud music and smoke and sprks entry of CIA agents dragging a caged Osama...

That should do the trick

:sleep2:

Only one person worthwatching will be there
Britney Spears :D

Looks like they are going to keep the hatemongers off the stage and fill it full of fluff that has nothing to do with this adminstration or its policies like Ahnold, Pataki, McCain and Giuliani. Just another chance to pull the wool over the eyes of the American Public.

I am actually looking forward to one Keynote Speech. The one that will be given by DEMOCRATIC Senator Zell Miller. The same Zell Miller who gave the keynote speech at Bill Clinton's 1992 nominating convention.

At the Clinton convention, he called the first President Bush "a timid man who hears only the voices of caution and the status quo." Now he endorses GW and heads a group of DEMS who support him.

It's because of thoughtful Americans like Zell Miller who puts partisanship second to duty to country that I can honestly say: "Some of my best friends are Democrats." :)

I am not sure why McCain supports our joker president. He should have run as an independent!!

Anyway, does anyone know whos playing at the Republican Convention? I know who is not!!!

myvoice bhaijaan, do you consider the rest as your enemy? (like the President off course)

John Mccain is the only Republican that I have some respect for. He is the most Democrat Republican one can find. When Decocarts are right about something he will acknowldge it. He is conservative but open minded and fair. One thing for sure He doesn't practice patisan Politics like those crooks and liars sitting in White House right now. What a bunch of thugs.

GOP has a lame duck giving the keyunote address.
I am always intrigued by lame duck politicians who somehow begin to grow a backbone when theior political career is not at stake. as one of the political commentrators said, they should be candid about their views when they are candidates, not when they are lame ducks :)

An interesting article about upcoming elections with foucs on Missouri. Virtually the geographical centre of the United States, Missouri is once again a swing state.

boy o boy.....rudy giuliani's speech was extremely tough specially on john kerry.....damn....he literally slaughtered john kerry step by step for almost 10 minutes....i can not explain it in words...u gotta see it....he was so tough about kerry’s inconsistency......i am not sure how much damage giuliani caused to to john kerry’s reputation but he made a mockery out of him…..

Giuliani's message is that if you don't vote for Bush more 9/11's will happen and you and your children will die. He exploits the tragedy of 9/11 which is disrespectful to those who died and to those who lost someone. The politicalization of 9/11 by these clowns is quite disheartening but expected as Bush's campaign is based on fear.

They attack Kerry because Kerry wanted to know how the $87 billion for Iraq was going to be used, Kerry wanted the money to accounted for what is so wrong with that?

i agree with u....giuliani was rude and his speech was based on fear...he did not mention one single word about domestic problems.... and whole time he was mentioning 911.........911 911 911 911......i guess he pretty much set the tone for republican’s campaign.....negative campaign......if rudy thinks that he was securing a political future for himself by criticizing john Kerry, he was wrong......in fact he showed his own “profile”.....yes some criticism of John Kerry was expected but there is a difference between a stand-up comedian and a political leader….

I really liked john McCain’s speech though…not because I happen to live few blocks from his place:)…. But he delivered a serious, thoughtful and respectful speech without any attacks on opponents…he is really a sober person. I wish he would have won republican nomination in 2000 instead of bush…anyways it is never too late….

Republicans say these moderate Repbulican speakers represent the broad spectrum of the GOP. What does that have to do with the price of tea in China if the people in control enact policies that are contrary to their beliefs? Arnie and McCain are nice guys, but they aren't the ones who are implementing the radical policies that are taking the US down the wrong path. Pat Robertson, Sean Hannity and Karl Rove would be a more honest assessment of what the US will have with another 4 years of Bush.

They are trying to win election by applying fear tactics. They have no other accomplishments in last 4 years they can mention. They will just keep reminding people about 9/11 attacks, so that if you don't vote for us it will happen again. Most of the speakers at the convention are bunch of moderate like Juliani and Arnold who are not the core of Republican Party. Majority of Republicans are conservative who are lacking in this convention. So they are not showing the real side of Republican Party. On the other side In Democratic convention, those speakers truly represented the ideology of Democratic Party. Republicans are focusing on those undecided voters who are mostly moderate, neither conservative enough to be Republican nor liberal enough to be Democrat.

These people have no class, mocking every veteran who has ever received the Purple Heart. It would have been appropriate to pass out bags of white powered as a symbol of what Bush was busy doing while Kerry risked his life for his country.

Bandages with purple hearts a swipe at Kerry

NEW YORK - A GOP delegate handed out more than 200 bandages with purple hearts on them Monday night at the Republican National Convention in a swipe at Democratic nominee John Kerry’s war record, but national GOP officials have asked him to stop.

The bandages were handed out by Morton Blackwell, a longtime GOP activist from Virginia, with the message: “It was just a self-inflicted scratch, but you see I got a Purple Heart for it.”

Kerry won three Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a bronze star for his service in the Vietnam War.

Democratic Chairman Terry McAuliffe said it is inexcusable to mock service and sacrifice.

GOP Chairman Ed Gillespie spoke to Blackwell and they agreed that he would not distribute any more bandages tonight.

“This was not a party activity, but he was acting as an individual,” said Republican spokesman Jim Dyke.
