The longest I’ve had to go without electricity = about 2.5 days

Happened this winter, thanks to the snowstorms. One of the wire cables and some trees in our street fell down and as a safety precaution, power was shut down in the whole neighbourhood. It took this long to fix it because of the constant and heavy snowfall as well as lack of staff (as the same thing happened in many areas of the city).

Time spent: daytime at work where we had power, evenings out in the park or just at home talking to family members, candlelight dinners at home, charging cell phones in the car, using the extra time to catch up on sleep, etc.

Probably the biggest inconvenience was having to go farther to get gas and consuming/throwing out perishable food in the fridge … oh and showering in the dark
