I need a car for a few months. Wont need it after that.
Is it better to rent or buy a used car?
For renting, which companies are best?
Thanks.

Re: Renting vs. Buying a Car
For a few months? No way is the answer renting.
Where do you need the car? How many months? If this is for a trip do you already have a car? I'm asking because a Carnet de Passage might be the best fit.
Re: Renting vs. Buying a Car
hskhan, what is a carnet de passage?
I need the car in the states. For about three to four months. No its not for a trip. Just for regular daily driving.
Re: Renting vs. Buying a Car
buy a dependable used car that can be sold easily, cant go wrong with buying a civic in this case.
I see techies on shortterm projects (4-6 months) who come to US, and buy these cars and are easily able to sell them before they leave.

it cuts both ways.. when she buys a high resale car.. she'd be paying the premium to the owner before her.

I am thinking less in terms of price alone but the ability to quickly sell it once she is done.
