I’ll be visiting Karachi from December 28 -January 7 2006 with 4 adult family members for a wedding (5 people in total). We’ll need a fully insured car with driver. Preferably a jeep, of a late model.
We simply need a car to ferry around 5 people for our stay, fully insured, with a driver. The daily hours wont be too long, food and a small allowance will be provided.
What would the daily fee be if we rented for over a week?
I don't know about Jeeps, but a regular 4 door sedan cost about 2000 rupees per day. I suggest you should order white cabs, which are about 500 rupees anywhere in Karachi, Roundtrip. But the problem is that you can not keep it for the whole day.
Well, a car will not do. As there are five adults plus the hired driver. So six people in a car. A corolla will not do, what we need is a full size SUV.
I'm sure they're availble. Its a matter of getting the right person.
SUV hire is almost impossible through a regular well known company. You should contact ur relatives in Karachi who may be get one arranged for you through private resources.
You can check, hertz or avis (avis.com.pk) websites & you will see that no SUV hire is available in PK.
With five people (if u drive urself) a Corolla or Honda will do perfectly fine.
Najim, thanks for the help. The problem is we'll need a driver. None of us have ever driven in Pakistan, ever - and we dont plan on learning come this trip. Thats why we're stuck in this mucky situation. Not being in Karachi also stops me from investigating myself.
Hmm...this is proving more difficult than I thought. If anyone knows, please do tell me the going rates for a Jeep. It'd be grateful.
^^
thats a very good idea.
sometimes, you are able to sell it for the same cost price because in Pakistan used cars have so much value. Besides the prices jump everyday.
If not then you can get it through any hotel (i would prefer 5-star). you don't have to stay in the hotel to rent the car. They have all kinds of cars with or with the driver. I'm from Lahore and I know PC (continental hotel) in Lahore has all kinds of cars that people can rent. Am sure same is the case in Karachi.
Although buying and selling a car is a good idea, I simply dont have the stamina to sell the car after. The trip is for little over a week, I dont think it'd justify the complexities of that idea.
well, then its better to rent rather than buying.
i don't remember the rent cost at all. but why don't you send an e-mail to Pearl Continental at [EMAIL="[email protected]"][email protected] (karachi location)
their website (pchotels.com/pk) isn't giving any details. I do remember that once we rented their car in Lahore but we didn't stay there
