Renovating living room/ guest bedroom

We have a big room in our basement with two small windows, which we want to transform into a living room plus guest bedroom.
We have decided upon sofa beds with a center table, few of book shelves might in black brown color.
These are the pictures of sofabeds and book shelves: -

HEMNES Bookcase - black-brown - IKEA

Walls and doors are white in color, they had wooden piling which has also been painted white so only lines are visible. I have now to change the carpet and was thinking of playing with walls, adding some color to the edging of piling and in some stripes of the piling. We have to use dark colors for sofa beds and carpet as our family kids usually come to visit us and most of the time stay in this room and mess up a lot.
I was thinking of something similar to turquoise or in same family of colors for carpet and then adding same color to edging and stripes of piling, how does this sound? any more ideas? i was not succesfull in finding exact match for the carpet.
what about these?

or if not these than going for greenish tones and adding same on walls?

Re: Renovating living room/ guest bedroom

Why not choose red or purple tones? I have dark brown furniture in my guest room and I have gotten a red rug + a red flower painting .. It looks good .. I just add a few red cushions to the bed and the chairs ..

In the other guest room, I have done the feature wall in purple and a small purple rug that goes really well with dark oak furniture .. the bedding is purple as well so that all goes well

The colors you suggested for the rugs seem very dull to me. But It might just be me , I like brighter but darker colors .. they brighten up the room ..
