I think this is probably the wrong forum for this but…
Who thinks the current provincial names are dividing us?
Obviously they are not meant to like Punjab literally means ‘Land of the Five Rivers’ but nobody thinks of it that way, people seem to think its named after its majority ethnicity (even though in actual fact it’s the other way round) same with Baluchistan and Sindh so I was thinking how about if our provinces were renamed like in England the different regions are East Midlands, North East, North West, South East, South West etc.
In Pakistan we can…
Punjab: North Eastern Province/Soobah Shumaal Mashraqi
Sarhad: North Western Province/Soobah Shumaal Maghribi
Sindh: South Eastern Province /Soobah Junoob Mashraqi
Baluchistan: South Western Province /Soobah Junoob Maghribi
It is diving us, we don’t have a proper ‘solid’ identity, your average Pakistani is a Punjabi or Pakhtun before they are Pakistani and that’s not good, we need to get rid of these identities move on and just be plain simple Pakistani.
The English are descent from Normans, Anglo-Saxons, Romans, Vikings, Celts, and Jutes but today they are one nation in every sense of the word, but our country it feels so divided. It took the English centuries we should speed up the process.
This confused ethnic identity is making me loose my Paki vibes.
Urdu should also be renamed Pakistanian.
Pakistanis can become one nation, if we’re willing to part with a few things; no people in the world are totally ethnically homologous.
^Take it easy bro...:) Its ok. There is no division. If there is any its in the hearts not in the names. In USA, there are states like Wisconsin, California, Alabama, Kentucky.......etc.. Does that mean they are divided? Names don't matter. The real thing is how strong we are to our ideals!

Yes and we should make it even so that what matters is being a Pakistani and a Muslim, nothing else not ethnicity, not language, not caste, not clan, not complexion.
Agar Sarhad ka naam Pukhtunistan or even worse Afghania rakha diya hota to ab tak ham ussey goodbye keh chukey hotey, these names only add to ethnic pride/patriotism which has a detrimental affect on Paki pride.
Ham sab ko sirf aur sirf Pakistani kehlaana chahiyey from Pakistan and it would be nice if we renamed Urdu Pakistanian, it sounds so horrible when pronounced ‘Urdu’ with an English accent, ‘erdoo. :D

Why is it that all of the provinces of Pakistan are named after the people that inhabit it, but the Pashtuns [Afghans] of NWFP get stuck with a compass name; as if it's the constant target that people need to find so you named it in correspondence to it's geographical location!
