Removing Henna

Is there a way to remove henna faster from your hands.

I want to get different henna for my walima…and its a good week apart…

Is there a way?

Re: Removing Henna

My mehndi artist told me you can remove henna with bleach. You might want to ask parlour ladies if you're in PK, they'll probably give you some good advice...

Re: Removing Henna

if its on the back of your hands, then you can wax it off.

Re: Removing Henna

You can wax off the henna on the back of your hand though mine even comes of with a loofah and soap after a couple of days. Try bleaching it

Re: Removing Henna

Use raigmall or raitee to scrub it off.

Re: Removing Henna

I'v tried this it works: After you take a shower, lightly rub your palms etc with towel, buff them with it, the henna comes off like magic. A loofah is too rough on the hands, a dampened towel however, works just right.

Lol at raigmall. That'll give a whole new perspective to the term 'skinned alive' :)

Re: Removing Henna

^ Wow its that simple....that seems too simple...but I will give it a try thanks!

As for the bleach...is that safe? You just run bleach onto a towel...and then start scrubbing?

Re: Removing Henna

You don’t have to bleach the towel just your hands/skin to remove the mehndi tattoo. You can bleach off mehndi at the back of the hands and arms successfully by using Jolen Bleach.

Why don’t you apply normal mehndi on one hand a few weeks before your wedding and try to remove it by the ways mentioned in this thread.

Re: Removing Henna

eucliptice oil is a natural remover for henna

Re: Removing Henna

***Most importantly take out the henna paste immediately. Removing the henna quickly after application, using water, will prevent the henna dye from sinking below the most external layers of skin.

  1. Soak a cotton swab with hydrogen peroxide, and gently rub into the skin over the henna stain. It can take awhile, but eventually the color will start to fade.

  2. Go swimming in a pool. The chlorinated water dries out the skin and speeds up the fading process.

  3. Soak the area stained with henna in hot water for long periods of time on a regular basis. Take a very long bath, a long and hot shower, or soak your foot or hand in a bowl of hot water.

  4. Massage olive oil into the stained area. This technique is probably the most gentle on the skin.

  5. Combine salt with the olive oil. This works as a natural exfoliant. Any other exfoliant also works to remove the top layers of the skin.

  6. Spend time in the sun to fade the stain. Take proper precautions because this practice can be unhealthy, especially for those with fair skin.

  7. Rub hair conditioner into the henna stain to also hasten the fading of the tattoo. This technique is also gentle on the skin.

  8. Wash the area often with antibacterial soap. Since henna is a stain, the more you wash it, the more it will fade.

  9. Soak the tattooed area in a solution of salt and warm water. Rinse well.

  10. Gently cleanse the area with whitening toothpaste. Rub the toothpaste into the skin using circular motions. Rinse well.

  11. Rubbing lemon on hands also work wonders

Hope this helps :)

Re: Removing Henna

thank you for the tips, i hate it when henna is fading and your left with that light orange tint

Re: Removing Henna

Its off the topic, but since there are so many ways to take the henna off, what are some of the ways to keep it longer? If there are gaps between wedding functions?

Re: Removing Henna

^you can get it re-applied if the design isn't very intricate

Re: Removing Henna

***You can make your Henna darker & last long by doing some little things-

  1. Don’t pick your henna paste off early, give it proper time (12 hrs approx).

  2. Apply a solution of lemon juice, sugar and cloves on the dried henna paste.

  3. Give smoke of cloves on hand over the dried henna.

  4. Applying vaseline work wonders over dried henna.

  5. Let it get dried off on its own don't rub to get the dried henna out of hands.

  6. Do not get it wet during the first 12 hours or it will stop its color development… and stay orange.

  7. Avoid contact with bleaching chemicals or elements such as household cleaning fluids, and chlorinated water in swimming pools.

  8. Avoid saunas and steam rooms and these actively encourage your skins natural regeneration cycle

  9. Avoid contact with abrasives such as exfoliating products etc

  10. When showering/bathing do not scrub your skin, just wash it gently with mild soap.

  11. After showering / bathing do not rub your skin dry, pat it gently with a towel instead.

Hope this helps too :) ***
