Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

A lawmaker from Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province shows President Pervez Musharraf’s torn poster during the assembly’s session in Peshawar, Pakistan on Tuesday.

Its one thing when a bunch of religious folks take out a procession on the streets and “Condom the Violence”, quite another when an MPA presents a poster in the Assembly asking to “Remove the Musharaf” and to “Save The Pakistan”.

Why don’t they just make posters in urdu (or pashtu or whatever) instead of embarrasing the image of our dear country around the world? Or at the very least, ask a 5th grader to review for poor grammar.

ps. My hope is that the lady here is showing this poster to request more funds for our schools to hire better teachers, so that students learn proper english. Alas! I am not sure this is the case! :frowning:

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

yaaraa… he is “THE” Musharraf after all :hehe:

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

Yes, seems like there are quite a few Musharafs running around, and she wants to talk about just THE one, so that we can save THE Pakistan from amongst many that have popped up all over the map.

^^ no no , THE musharraf of THE pakistan :D.
(p.s; …waisay grammar tou meri bhee achee naheen hey :halo:, any suggestions ?)

Though, I really don’t want to talk about Mushy unkil in this thread.

Of course there is a Pakistan in every pakistani’s heart… but there is this THE Pakistan which belongs to THE Musharraf.

We call it Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. :vivo:

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

Faisal

the use of the word "the" is a little dodgy, when we tell someone to shut the hell up, it is pointing to The Hell, however, when a different variant using a popular four letter word is used, are we saying there is A and THE distinction there?

must be some "the" then.

yaar mera, u are worrying about one poster in english, have u heard these ppl talk, in english, urdu or even their native languages.

they should all be made to enroll in toastmasters pronto...all of em

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

this is just gettin totally ridiculous.

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

It reminds me when Bob Woolmer died, and Inzi goes 'the bob is died'!

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

hm…what if this all was on purpose?

i mean sazish against Musharraf and his statements that The Pakistan is progressing :hehe:

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

the english in the banner sounds perfectly fine when read in pushto

"kanake remove the musharraff, kanake save the pakistan"

so there...

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

Remove the **President(Musharaff), save **the land of the pure (Pakistan)

Makes sense.

btw, there is a desi in my office (a fellow Indian) who likes to use the "the" word for companies....for example - "He works for the Cisco"...."Yesterday I had a meeting with the sales team at the Oracle" and so on.

I the totally the agree!

You think that is bad? I laugh my ass off every time I see idiots chanting GO MUSHARRAF GO on cnn, geo, bbc etc.

Morons don't even know how to diss someone, since GO MUSHARRAF GO would be considered a pro musharraf sentiment in english. As in...hell yea musharraf, you GO boy. Thats how the whole world perceives it anyway.

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

its not just pakistani people who cant speak the Queens english....

I just heard an American sports commentator (CBS?) say " Michael Phelps is the most winningest gold medalist in olympic sport history" LOL

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

^ Using “most” and “winningest” in the same sentence is definitely redundant. Good point. :k:

Don’t know about Queens English, but “winningest” is definitely an accepted word in English language, so I am not sure what you are LOL’ing about.

winningest - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

It is a made up word by Americans, the BBC have been laughing since they showed a clip of a ditzy american news reporter saying it.

When ‘est’ or ‘ness’ is used as a suffix to create such clumsy words it suggest a lack of vocabulary.

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

^ Considering that the word “winningest” got into Merriam-Webster dictionary in 1972 and most other dictionaries between 1970-1975 BBC can laugh all they want, what can we say! Laughter is probably good for your health anyway

Had it been a word that is not in English dictionary, or was relatively new or was just part of online blog culture, we’d all probably get a chuckle out of it.

Re: Remove The Musharaf - Save The Pakistan

^ what about bestest? :naraz:
