Gen Xer’s Revenge
OG has just suffered a debilitating stroke and is lying in a hospital bed drooling like a vegetable–the drool stains on his pillow eerily reminiscent of the map of Palestine pre-1948. The suffering that follows is insurmountably painful, and as OG lets his salty tears roll down his sallow shriveled cheeks, while he fondly reminisces about his loved ones, hospital nurses Tyrone and LaShawnda—both disenfranchised angry, minimum wage earning African-Americans— pinch his rear and shove a bedpan underneath him. Then one day dope in a cape comes in, disguised as a volunteer in the geriatrics ward, and sneaks inside and takes a pillow and smothers him. As OG writhes in pain and claws dope in a last ditch effort to breathe in air, dope lets out a maniacally reproaching laughter. Soon, OG’s bony grip on Dope’s hairy arm relaxes and his eyes transfix in a hollow vacant gaze and the monitor flatlines as he breathes his last.
Before you protest, please read the following stats on how the boomers (OG and MV) have screwed us.
-Social security is a “pay-as-you-go” ponzi scheme, and no Gen Xer will ever see a dime of it when he retires.
-They paid less SS taxes than the Gen Xers; so they are smooching off of us.
-They are expected to live longer than expected.
-By 2016, so many people will be drawing Social Security that the money needed to cover benefits will be more than what we Gen-X/Y workers will be paying in taxes.
-Ever since we Gen-X/Yers began working, we’ve paid 12.4 percent of our earnings to Social Security, half taken through the FICA tax on our paycheck and half through the payroll tax. In the coming years, Congress likely will increase that rate to more than 17 percent to delay the 2038 catastrophe.
