...Religious Questions...

Re: ...Religious Questions...

my mom gets mad when i talk to much in general or when i tell her that two of her statements condradict each other, how am i suppose to know which one to listen to.

Re: …Religious Questions…

^ Poor you. :hehe:

Impulse That’s good :k:

Ofcourse I can’t change the way our older Pakistani generation thinks, but I just hope that I, or we all, become better parents and instead of scolding them and telling them “this is how it is, and this is how you are going to do it”, maybe we can try to get an answer for our children so that they can understand religion better.

Another example is: In Pakistan, parents want you to read Quran andha dhund. They send you to the masjid TWICE a day, in the morning before school, and then in the afternoon after the school. Yes, you finish the Quran about 7 times before the age of 10 but do you even have a clue what is said in Quran? NO! Instead of just sending us to read Quran day and night and expect us to just recite it, maybe they can send us once a day and that too with translation, we can actually learn what’s being said. To be honest, I used to skip the morning classes and just spend some time outside and come back home after half an hour because going twice a day was too much for me as a child of age 7-8.

Re: ...Religious Questions...

something i observed guys.

when it comes to dads all the dad listen but when it comes to mother then they get frustaed, why???

i am personally having a beliving on this theory

" if women tell something to other women then first women will belive it even thou other is liying and if men tell something to women then she won't believe it even thou it's true."

did u guys notice something that where ur mom get this idea or believe from ??? when they talk to other women and u will also notice that they won't get annoyed on that time evenn thou it goes against them. but the samething if the son to her she will get annoyed ???

why ??? i just don't get it ? it just nature of women or human or what ???

Re: …Religious Questions…

yeah you’re 100% right. there isnt much point reading something that we cannot understand. I think more emphasis needs to be put on understanding it…and the tafseer of it. i.e. why that surah was revealed, when …etc.

ps. You used to bunk classes at the age of 7/8? that must be a world record!

Re: …Religious Questions…

I have observed the following:

what I have noticed is that men generally tend to understand things faster/better than women. let me give u an example…if I was unfortunate enough to have a car accident…and I came home…and had to explain what happened. with my dad…I’ll just have to say it once and he will TOTALLY understand what happened. he’ll have the whole picture in his head. the same thing if I tell my brothers…or brother-in-law…or any guy  sometimes I be shocked at how fast they understand wot Im talking. they even seem to understand the incident better than myself!

but when it comes to my mom or sister…or girls generally…I’ll have to say it once…they wont get it  then I’ll say it again and they’ll still not get it  then even if I put it in the SIMPLEST of words and even if I draw a diagram to show them…they’ll STILL not get it
no joke, this is true:p Ive noticed this alot with alot of girls. then after me spending so long explaining it to them, they will say “oh forget it…”…OR they will say “I understand you…it happened like this right?” (after which they will explain to me in their own words wot they THINK happened)…and it would be TOTALLY wrong :smack:

no offence to girls. im talking about the majority here. of course im an exception to this :smooth:

Re: ...Religious Questions...

my mum's far more open minded in comparison to dad. most of the people i know have similar situation, dads get annoyed too often like some one is challenging their throne. i never get along wid my dad.

Re: ...Religious Questions...

wat i know abt fastin is ..... u can fast every single day in year xcludin EID days so it dont realy matter if its 12 rabul awal or rabi-o-safar . no one shud stop u !!! n many things were not in HOLYPROPHETS age ..... example : TERAWIS were not reguler and the thing they pray last 3 days of ramdan to finish the QURAN and above all even QURAN wasnt in a binded form . so thats a lame xcuse and isnt this a hadith ** AMAL KA DAROMADAR NIYETOO PER HAI ** ??? so as long they doing it with siincerity and only to please GOD no one shud be botherd innit ??? thats only wat i think !

Re: ...Religious Questions...

^ True. But as people say, it's called Bidah when you try to add something to religion hoping for reward. As far as 12 Rabi-ul-awal is concerned, it's also called Eid Mailaad-un-Nabi. Although Eid means khushi (I think), there are only 2 eids: Eid-ul-fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. Quran in a binded format is not a related example because Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) had memorized it. Sahabas needed to copy it down because they and us wouldn't be able to memorize it. I am not sure about Trawis. Islam was complete upon the death of Prophet (PBUH). Whatever he did is the part of Islam, whatever he didn't do is not. That's what I believe.

Re: ...Religious Questions...

No free speech in my home. Its almost like I have to hide my opinions about things.

I think parents must listen to their kids no matter what. Otherwise, how would they get to know the monsters that they might have created!
