ok, so i went to this mehfil-e-milad in the L.A. area few days ago and was totally appalled at the way ladies behaved at such an event!
It was a 100% paki function sponsored, organised, funded etc…by pakis not to mention the gathering was nothing but pakis! which makes me think are milads only a paki riwaaj ? or do other countries have them too…?
anyway, so coming back to the issue, it was so sad to see that our women have lost all respect for such religious events. There were some really nice na’at khuans and some great speeches were also delivered by renowned Islamic scholars, but in the womens side there were cell phones ringing left, right and center and ladies were talking pretty loud while the milad was going on!
and i dont mean those quickie urgent phone calls for something important, these were pure gossip calls! some females were busy chatting with each other about what one’s saas said to her about not doing her work blah…blah… ufffff they were so loud! My mom and i had to eventually get up and look for a quieter spot !
Then there were those “ghoor ghoor ke dekhne waali” aunties who were scanning from top to bottom every female entering or leaving the hall (u had to go thru the crowd to get to the main doors). Instead of listening to the wonderful na’ats they seemed more interested in checking out the clothes and shoes of other women! It felt so awkward when they were starring at me! ![]()
The dinner that followed was another story in itself! ill have to start a new thread…
The most surprising part of the whole story was that the same kinda stuff was going on in the mens side. My brother told us the same things were happening there too! toba toba! whats happened to pakistani men!

Wrong way of lookin at thing. When we talk about Islam we must try to confrim things with Quran and Sunnah [hadith]. Suppose all but one Muslim country doesn it, will you then believe that it is s'thing right when it is not.

The na'ats you consider might have some things which destruct faith, so be carefull.

Wait a sec, all your post has been about ladies and you are balming gents for that?
Seems like the "Biddah bittalion" has taken over this forum. Everything is a "biddah". Masha Allah :)
