Have you been discriminated against, because you’re muslim?
Share your experiences. I wonder how widespread the fear of discrimination is?
How many of you are trying to remain inconspicuous with regards to your religious identity/beliefs?

i'm often asked to show my ID at check-out counters which really piss me off ..... would u call that discrimination ?
i've never seen any caucasian being asked to show his/ her ID

^ i used to think that too, but ive since noticed its pretty random, they don't really look at skin colour before asking to see picture id. some stores have it as a policy.

I have never been discriminated against at work , stores , in public , but at airports I do feel that they single me out because of my very Muslim first name. I have never been able to do a self check at airports when I buy e-tickets. The machine will tell me to go to a live agent.

Well you wont believe me, But due to being a muslim I have gotten support from where you cant/least expect it.

I was religiously discriminated 4 years back by one of my muslim brothers.
It was during when I was working as a software vendor help desk support personnel. Apparently, I was told not to go for Jumuah prayer because my muslim brother (who happened to be my supervisor) was a better muslim and must go every Jumuah. The reason was very valid 
that he had asked this during his hiring interview and I had failed to mention it (considering that hiring people, being from Pakistan would already know it…) and because I did not ask it, therefore, I was not obliged to pray Jumuah 
Finally we settled on alternating weekly (between me and another co-worker)… both used to go with the supervisor… so my brother in Islam never missed a jumuah, Masha Allah.

On a flip side, long before that, at another place, a manager-in-training from texas, a former US army personel, a devout Christian about the same age as me, himself took the initiative without me asking, urging me to take free breaks during prayers time at work and escalated the case to General Manager and Co-managers and it was approved for all muslims at work without any delay.

Ive never been discriminated as a muslim but as a pakistani everytime u gota a connecting flight from Heathrow international London, there would be a sign for "pia passengers" to step aside.

Your name must have a match in the feared "list" (referring to the list of terror suspects). My first name on airline tickets is "Muhammad" which is as muslim as you can get, but due to an unusual last name, alhamdollilah, it has never been tagged or listed. No problem at airports either.
