Religious discrimination is racism [split: Mob tries to burn houses of Ahmadis]

To make this semantic back and forth a little less tedious for the rest of us, and also to conclude this topic, could you also clarify if you think sexual discrimination or discrimination based on political views is also allocated as part of racial discrimination?

Re: Religious discrimination is racism [split: Mob tries to burn houses of Ahmadis]

Depends on the status. If it is a Hijabi in Europe where a Danish MP stated that Hijabis are just like neo-nazis. It could be considered, sexual, gender, religious and ethnic discrimination. It would thus fall under Xenophobia, racial and related intolerances.

The specific reason the Durban Declaration stipulates all four together is that nothing is specifically linked to one sort of racism or intolerance anymore.

Its in the wording.. You have to read carefully..

They say IN ADDITION, such and such discriminations can also be inflicted on top of the other...

If you dont comprehend the wording, then what can I tell you!

No, you used the example of Jews to imply that the Durban accords categorize ALL religious and racial discrimination under one category, which it doesnt.

Yeah, but all these categories are DIFFERENT forms of discrimination. They are not the same.
If a Hijabi were attacked and called so vile names that denote her race, sex and religion, then she would be attacked on multiple levels... Just like a document states, that people who discriminated on the basis of race, may also be discriminated in other ways, based on OTHER categories of discrimination.

The point once again, is that though a person can be discriminated in many ways, the Durban accord logically, does not throw things like race and relgion into one category.

Anyways, I think this thread has been stretched to its limit...

That is simply not true. Egyptian jews look very different from Russian jews who inturn are a world apart from Ashkenazic jews (who are the same complexion as most subcontinentals). Then there are African/black jews.

sigh I spend more time educating people on simple things than actually discussing politics on GS.

You need to work on your english comprehension skilsl cm... Im sorry, you cant teach me anything...

Im talking about perceptions... Jews in general consider themselves to be one people, and most others also consider them to be one race.
Antisemitism is precieved to be in referance to a race and a religion.

Whether this is actual fact or not is not the point, its the perception that counts.
Besides, most jews that are recognized to be so by the Israeli govt are those that have shown to have descendance from Jewish tribes. Whether they be black or brown, they tend to all be descended from an Israeli tribe.

Look I am not responsible for you assumption. Please tell me where I stated that the issue of anti-semitism was in correlation to the Durban Declaration?

You have already agreed that anti-semitism is infact considered racism even though it is a religious definition. My point is made.
