Religious Content ( Non-Islamic)

So I was watching Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge on ARY, and the scene where Kajol prays has been totally deleted.

This is scene before she asks her dad permission to go on month long trip to Europe. And the praying scene is about a minute or two long. I think she is reading the Holy Geeta book or reciting the Gayatri Mantra.

Are the TV channels in Pakistan not allowed to show any non-islamic religious content. Is it illegal ??

Like if a person is praying at a temple or church, is it always deleted ??

What about in the theaters ??

Re: Religious Content ( Non-Islamic)

No way, in all resrtict times including Zia Regime, the state owned channel PTV showed dramas with scenes of Pooja Paat. There have been produced serials recently about Hindu characters and scenes where they are praying. There are no policy for deleting such stuff. Here is the video from a Telefilm shown on a Sindhi channel recently about a Hindu Sufi saint:

The film contain many scenes showing Pooja paat.

Re: Religious Content ( Non-Islamic)

Ok, there is this Pakistani drama ‘Mujhe Apna Bana Lo’ aka ‘Audience ko bhaga do’, where they shown Aarti, Holi, etc, which shows that there no bar on media to show such content

Re: Religious Content ( Non-Islamic)

you can add from opening scene of gurumukh singh ki wasiahat where he reads some sikh prayers....

Re: Religious Content ( Non-Islamic)

Even Sanam Baloch has been shown engaged in some forced sikh prayers in Hum TV's famous drama 'Daastan'.

Re: Religious Content ( Non-Islamic)

TV channels usually delete scenes that aren't that important inorder to fit the movie in the specified time-slot it probably didn't have anything to do with her praying in a church and reading non-Islamic religious text.

Re: Religious Content ( Non-Islamic)

Yeah, it was probably a coincidence. In fact, HUM now has a show named Bilqees Kaur which revolves around a Sikh family. And GEO has a show strictly on a Hindu family. There are many which has Christianity, Hinduism as well as Sikhism in them.

So it is definitely not what you're thinking. I would be pissed if that happened. =/

Re: Religious Content ( Non-Islamic)

Ahh ok. I was just curious. I though it was not allowed.

Here in the Gulf, they used to edit out scenes in the theater ( I don't think they do it any more ) so I thought it was the same in Pak.
