Religion is a commodity?

The Muslim - sell it as the only way to God
The Christian - sell it as the best religion
The Buddhist - sell it as a way to salvation
The Hindu - sells it as a spiritual way to God

Religion is not a commodity, it is only a way (road, path, direction etc) to GOD.

How can a path be better than the other path (harder, longer perhaps).

And yet we kill, fight and hurt each other because we choose to take a different path to reach GOD.

Re: Religion is a commodity?

^ its not about better or worse, its about the ONLY WAY to God....
u can have other paths, with wrong indications of the destination....

some of them might never have been the right ones....
other might have originally been leading to the right destination, but have over the time been twisted some place or the other and will mislead u from the original destination now....

only one path is left which truly leads to God....

said it all

Re: Religion is a commodity?

There had never been and never will be one single way to reach God (i.e. to find the ultimate truth). People who believe that there is just one path will be lost forever. Look around in the history of mankind and list all the men who found the truth, you will see that each one of them found it in their own unique way.
If it was as easy as reading from a manual, then we would have many more enlightened ones.
It is amazing that in most cases the religious books have not been written by the prophets or the enlightened ones. If they really thought that there is one way to find the truth they would have written it by themselves, spelling everything step by step, without creating confusion and mutiple intepretation. These books have been written by people who thought they understood or maybe posed that they understood what the prophet meant, and wrote it down. They did not even think that if it was a wish of the prophet then it could have written it by himself in a much better way.

Re: Religion is a commodity?

Everyday everyone sells himself by offering his knowledge or his skills; the whole world is buying and selling game.

But before buying you always make sure the product is same as described on the box.

So you choose the best product as per your understanding and buy it.

Re: Religion is a commodity?

if there are multiple paths to God........could there be a path that says that it is right to lie, it is right to cheat, it is right to steal, and it is right to kill anyone who disagrees with you and that if you do all of these things, you will be on God's path.

if such a path is not acceptable, it means that some paths are 'right paths' and other paths are 'wrong paths'.

Re: Religion is a commodity?

If we love God, we will follow the one true religion of God as its the human fitrah to want to know God. Islam is the only religion that teaches human beings the 99 attributes of Allah. However, if you go in depth into Islam (Ilm e Tasawwuf), you will find an extra 100 over attributes and the rest of the other attributes are unknown to us.

Re: Religion is a commodity?

To lie, to steal, to kill are not path to anywhere, they are only moments in a long journey. There can be justification for lying, for stealing and even for killing. Whether the justification good enough or not, you have to ask yourself and ultimately God knows it anyways.
For some people the whole journey is made up of those moments (lying, stealing, killing), then you can imagine where the journey will take them.
But still there are many paths for enlightenment.

Re: Religion is a commodity?

This attitude will stop you from exloring any other path. If God really did not want you to explore He would have made humans like robots.
