Dear friends,
:salam:
First of all, I will like to thank 5Abi and Samarra for carrying out an outstanding job as moderators of Religion forum. This is, by no means an easy forum to manage. Religion is always something very close to our hearts. We all get offended very quickly, when it comes to matters of faith. This is natural, and that is why it is very common for any of us to get upset at some of the discussions here and blame the moderators for either allowing them or closing them. This is truly a thankless job, and the two of them did it with dedication and conviction, for which, on behalf of the whole Admin team, I want to express my sincere gratitude.
Secondly, for those who don’t know me… I am Faisal. Nice to meet all of you too ![]()
A few things are going to change here, and therefore please bear with me. Most importantly, I want a lot more participation from all members in a positive way. I want you to open new discussions and respond in discussions, keeping in view that we all are here to share our opinions and enhance our knowledge. Very few of us, if any, are scholars of Islam, per se. At the same time, please take a few minutes and re-read the Rules](http://www.gupland.com/forums/showrules.php?s=&forumid=20) of the Religion Forum. Please pay special attention to rules 2, 3 and 4. These will be enforced very strictly.
I have removed the Moratorium, so all discussions on all issues of faith are permitted now. However, if any discussion goes into a mud-slinging match and posting of insults (personal or otherwise), the topic may be closed, posts may be removed and the participants may be awarded warning points. Each violation of our Rules will result in 10 warning points. If you get a total of 30 warning points, you will be banned from posting, until you contact the Admin and promise to comply with the rules. Do not try to sneak in through multiple nicks. We don’t like it.
I want all of you to act maturely, or atleast try to. This is not the place to slit throats or shoot people. If you don’t like comments by someone, either mention it in the thread in a mature manner or send me a PM. Don’t start a name-calling match, because that will get you into trouble. I try to read most stuff posted here, but I can’t make promises that I will, so if you find something wrong, please point it out to me via PM. I like to do things my way, so, like it or not, you will have to accept my decisions. If I find nothing wrong with a post, I will not remove it. I will, however, try to remove all posts which are hurtful in a deliberate manner or insult any faith. I want to make sure you are all allowed to express reasonable opinions. There is a lot of judgement involved here, and you will all have to appreciate that. This does not imply, by any means, that I am more knowledgable than any of you in matters of Islam… but rather that my job is to provide all of you a place to express your opinions in a constructive manner.
And lastly, please remember this is the Religion forum. Any posts which are deemed (by me) to be political in nature, will be moved to Political forum. In addition, any posts which are deemed to be unfit for this forum, will be moved out to the right place, and vice versa. Any discussions which are going off in tangents, to the extent possible, will be split in separate discussions (so please try to open a new thread if your response is going to be tangential to main discussion).
Those who have known me here on GUPSHUP over the years, know that I am a fairly reasonable person. I have a high level of tolerence for opinions which are different than mine, but a rather low tolerance for rude and obnoxious people. So, please keep that in mind. I am generally polite, so feel free not to be intimidated. ![]()
If any of you, have any suggestions on making this a better place, please post them here or send me a PM. I am always looking forward to your opinions. Collectively we have to make sure that this forum imparts information, as opposed to disinformation, and a culture of politeness, instead of insults.
Thank you and Jazak Allah.
Faisal
