Religion Forum (suggestion)

Salam everyone..
So today I was really feeling down and was feeling kinda stressed at college so thought to visit the religion forum and see if there is any kind of surrah or dua to recite. But when I went there guess what a saw? All these topics such as hijab, plucking eyebrow or wat not… But I couldn’t see any single thread of surrahs. So I was thinking that it would be really good if we separate religion forum. One for normal religious discussion and one for strictly to Islamic teaching, which wouldn’t have any kind of debate or arguments.
Not only me but I think there are many other guppan and guppies out there who might also want to read quranic surrah or explanation of different surrahs to further enhance our knowledge about islam…
It is just a suggestion, if we can’t separate the forum atleast we can motivate (educated and more experienced guppies) to post some quranic surrahs with meaning and explanations of them.
Thanks for listening
And now you can go back to café to flood

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

Good suggestion. We do have fatwa of the day thread there. :)

Kiddin'!

We had these kinds of sticky threads in Religion Forum before that included sura, hadiths, or just 'saying of the week' kinda topics. However, with time they seem to dwindle down in interest and were taken off.

If you have interest, you/we can restart the effort to have a sticky topic that includes small suras or sayings just from an Islamic stand-point (with no discussions etc).

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

^ i can do that.. and inshallah i will try to post one tommorrow but still we need other more mature and knowledged guppies to participate... (such as you)...

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

good but attia, how do u expect no arguments in the teaching section? There will be fights no matter what :bummer:

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

^ exactly tat is wat i wanted to say :bummer: no arguments or discussion just straight forward surah’s with explanation or hadith with background and stuff.. am tired ot all these argument thread, which mostly end up locked without a proper answer :bummer:

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

There are good ways to handle the fights and make people realize to learn but no guarantee :stuck_out_tongue:

There are decent approaches that can be taken… I have things in mind… I just need some time to put them in words, in much more appropriate way, I will :insha: give my suggestions/opinion. Of course, there might be problems with what I come up with but by sharing I believe we can make things better

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

We can split out discussion posts into another thread and that will keep sura thread just for suras (or whatever you guys wanna post). Thats not a problem.

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

there are many websites on the internet with Qur'an translations, surahs and duas etc.. Gupshup is primarily a discussion site.. I really don't see why people come here wanting to turn it into some boring 'archive'..

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

^ huh? so you think adding surahs with their explanation would make gupshup a "Boring Archive" ?
Iam not sure if u meant that, but if you did please edit ur sentence for your own goodness..

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

I definitely meant that. What can't u find at other websites that you want Gupshup to be a repository for your duas and vazeefahs?

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

People use GS in different ways. Some use it as online diary (Journals), some use it as chat (Cafe) and some treat it as a picture album (Img). To each their own. I think its perfectly fine for people to have threads where they post inspirational quotes (whether they are from Quran or from some place else). Those who find it boring will (hopefully) find plenty of other things to keep their GS visit enjoyable. There are many 'vigorous' discussions going on at any given time in Religion and other forums.

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

I hope this site doesn't turn into yet another Islam defining Fatwa issuing Hadith interpreting Progress blocking longbeard site. Nothing against religion.

Re: Religion Forum (suggestion)

Interestingly, religion forum stays busy because of the controversial poo-throwing threads.

You try and open up something positive and constructive and very few reply, and if they do, its because someone ingenious figured out how to convert it over into a poo-throwing thread.
