Religion and Restrictions are Synonyms?

Is religion all about ‘dos’ and ‘do nots’?

Do all restrictions imposed by religions / religious person (there is a difference due to interpretations) have made society a better place to live?

Some religions claims to be natural, but some religious quarters from same religions seems to put bar on even taking breath.

Re: Religion and Restrictions are Synonyms?

religion is a system. all systems have restrictions on the behavior of their elements.

Re: Religion and Restrictions are Synonyms?

can this system be criticised / condemned like other systems for its weaknesses?

Re: Religion and Restrictions are Synonyms?

these do’s and don’ts are there to make you a better person and hence to create a better society. these are just the basics and one can build upon them individually through taqwa. we can not imagine a society which doesn’t believe in “do’s and don’ts” … we call them ‘laws and incentives’ … in religious terms, we call shari’a or ‘sawaabiyaat and ma’aasiyaat’.

Re: Religion and Restrictions are Synonyms?

Ok lets rephrase the question. Who is more important? Human beings or rules and restrictions?

Re: Religion and Restrictions are Synonyms?

the only problem is that we are all different.. even in 1 religion, how many followers are of the same belief? even with in islam, there are sects and further different schools of thought..
there are many reasons why one doesn’t believe in religion. forexample, i dont believe in divinity or authenticity of certain faiths. many people are nonreligious. many muslims even don’t agree with all of islamic practices either.. so whos to say everyone MUST follow a certain guideline set by one person?
christianity has its rules as well, but majority of christians are happy living in secular states. majority of americans, canadians, european are of christian faith, but they would still not enforce christian rules.
